There was another thing that keep bugging the gryphon, why would anyone actually throw a tea party in a world where almost every one tired to kill each other over small metal pieces and for that matter on a boat. Why would anyone pain the amount of caps for that, it did just not add up for her.

So why was Kira here? Really she did not know that her self perhaps she though it would help her relax but it she was only more tense. She looked over the groups at where not sure if she really fit in with any of them, know some of the ponies in the from her travels she just did not know if she where to join any of them or even talk to them.

Finally she chose to get closer to one of the groups, she moved though the crowed over to the place were she had seen Trials and Kestrel. She had been though a lot with the two of them and she trusted them more then most other, of course Kes creeped her out at times. She did not recognize the other pony with the two but that was something she had do take care of when it came to it.

With the formalities he deemed polite out of the way and another, different mixture of tea in his cup, Arc looked round the crowd. Most of the participants of the party seemed to be having conversation, locked within groups of three or four, something he thought of as a proper amount for a discussion. He would not even bother thinking about disturbing this system. The rest of the atendees seemed to be fine being left alone.

Arc noticed Gentle, and for a moment thought of greeting her, but then he spotted the concentration she gave to her drawing and scrapped the idea.

He looked down on his cup of tea, then again on the calm endless surface of the sea.

"Guess you two are going to be my companions for the evening. Not that i complain.", he thought, andh sipped the tea.

    "Delicious."

Cross smiled as Zestari complemented him and nodded. He saw Trails heading towards Zestari so he whispered to Winter that perhaps they should let them have some time together....

Cross looked around trying to figure out who they could talk to, he was still nervous with the ponies he still haven't really seen since he met Winter. Still gazing around the room, he saw a dear old friend of his he hadn't seen for many months but insisted Winter send an invitation to. Cross looked back to Winter.

"Winter, this way, there's a dear old friend of mine I really want you to meet.." Cross led the way over to where Amber Dusk pony was sitting, or as Cross liked to refer to him, as emo pony.

"Hi Amber, its been awhile....we really need to catch up" Cross then remembered.

"Oh yes, Amber...um I would like you to meet...Winter Bell...she's my....*ahem* marefriend..." After waiting for a brief pause to let that sink in, Cross tried to get some more info out of Amber.

"So hows the courier business?....seen Athanix around lately?" Cross took a step back to let Amber answer but also to allow Winter and him get introduced

"Nah Kes and me are just friends." Trails said, laughing. "He's saved my life more times than I care to remember. We look out for each other. A good friend is hard to find and a not something you throw away y'know?" He stood up now, deciding to act on an impulse. Kes always said he should learn to ignore them, Trails didn't care. Besides this'd cement things in Rodeo's mind. "Now if you'll excuse me there's a mare over there I feel needs my attention."

Trails walked away from the table, forgetting about what was going on back there almost instantly. He weaved through the tables and ponies, towards the only one he had eyes for. Zestari was talking to Cross and Bell. Funny he hadn't even noticed they were there until now, oh well just details. He straightened himself up and checked his mane in the reflection of a plate as he walked up behind her, checking his breath quickly at the last second. It smelled like honey, probably from the tea.

"Howdy." He whispered in her ear.

She smelled...great. He was brought back to Bitter Springs in an instant, only for once the thought of his newly lost home didn't make him swell up with rage. Maybe that was because he wasn't thinking about Bitter Springs at all, but how she had patched him up after taking on all of his brothers at once. Some had called him cocky for asking to take on all at once. Zestari no doubt thought it was stupid, he had to admit it was. At the end of the day he didn't remember their punches, he just remembered her helping him.

"The tea was great, let's go somewhere and talk." he whispered further, gently brushing up against her as knelled to get on her eye level.

Dash sighed heavily, "Yeah..." he said, his ears splayed back, "Someday... Hopefully someday sooner rather than later. And I hope he'll be with me when I do..." With all the things he had been rushing around doing, he was beginning to lose track of the days, but he still had a spark of hope within him that he would be able to find Leafrun, alive. He was still a bit of a newcomer to the wasteland, and wasn't terribly knowledgeable. It had just been happy family life up until he had been shot.

"But anyways... That's my story other than my marefriend back there, too. Do you have any big, immediate goals?"

"Ah hear ya, partner. And Ah was just messin' with y'all," he said just before Trails stood and left. He turned blankly forward, and realized the large, dark colored griffon's eyes locked on him. Rodeo turned his head a little. Why was he staring at him?

Rodeo let out a snicker, then stared right back.

"Called it." Kes thought to himself as Trails went off to pursue his chosen mare. No doubt he'd be over there for a while, leaving Kes alone with his old friend here.

Kes took this opportunity to look the stallion over in further detail. Those signature cold, predatory eyes of his mapping out the stallions visible form as Kestrels mind built up a sort of profile on the guy.

He was no small fry, and he looked like he was experienced. The fact that he had been joking about the implication of homosexuality before meant he had a sense of humor, a sense that Kes had never really bothered to develop. Still he had proven he wasn't an idiot for now; the mark on his record was removed.

The stallion was back at ground zero now.

Kes had never been good at talking to other ponies, so he had no clue how to really spark off a conversation, nor did he have any real desire to start one. If this stallion wanted to talk, he'd have to make the first move.

Amity stood up as he nodded slightly in acknowledgement as he greeted the two.

"Indeed Cross, it has been a while." Amity said. He tried to force a smile but it just came to a barely noticeable smirk. Hearing the news of the relationship though he was able to pull it to a light smile. At least someponies were finding something in his wasteland. He certainly wasn't. "I am happy for you both." Amity said lightly. He had hoped that Cross would see through his monotone and know that he was being sincere with this.

Then came the questions of his job and his eccentric zebra friend. "I haven't really been delivering lately, but I have been to many places." Amity said. This wasn't a complete lie. He had not seen many deliveries lately and has mostly been out and about using his talents to find him some work. Not something he was too proud of, but the wasteland is cruel.

As for his crazy maned zebra friend...
"I have no idea where he might be." It was said quickly and as if it was a matter of fact, which it was. "I haven't seen him since - ..." Amity said just trailing off leaving the three at a silence. Struggling a tad to restart the conversation Amity spoke up.

"-So, how are you two enjoying yourselves..?"

Rodeo continued to stare at him, his mind only somewhat busy. Rodeo wasn't much for judging, just as he said. However, he could smell danger just by looking at it. The griffon seemed tough. Very tough. And large, even by a griffon's standards, Rodeo thought... but he didn't know too much about griffons to begin with. His dark, emotionless eyes were busy studying, and his mask added a bit of a creepy element to him. While that may work on others, Rodeo felt it could be a sign of weakness. Though he doubted that, it could easily just be a demoralizer. Rodeo knew as any warrior would, that half of every battle is a psychological one. But it wasn't working on Rodeo. What was the griffon trying to hide? Rodeo had scars all over his face and body, but cared nothing of what others thought of them. They worked fine as demoralizers as well.

Still. Rodeo didn't want to press the griffon's buttons wrongly. He continued to stare. That is, until he felt his buzz wearing off. He reached into his jacket and retrieved his bottle of whiskey. He reached for a cup and pot to fill with tea, but opted to take a swig from the bottle itself instead. After, he set it down on the table, never taking his eyes off the griffon. He glanced to the bottle on the table, then back to him before pushing it toward him slightly, and leaning back in his chair.

"Help yerself. Ah got more in mah room," he offered.

“O-oh, you know her?” Of course the two knew each other. Scrap had been one of the ponies who went out to fetch some kind of odd seed or whatever for the Zebra. Zestari had later told Bakewell that he had said hi. But why didn’t the grey unicorn feel the same way about Zestari? What had he done to convince himself that Bakewell of all ponies was a good choice of pony to feel all dumb about?

Part of Bakewell was glad that he hadn’t immediately given up and walked off, it meant that she must have not messed up her refusal too badly, though Scrap’s drooped ears suggested the obvious: She hadn’t given the answer he was hoping for. The other currently dominant part felt that maybe, just maybe, the unicorn wandering off and never seeing her again would have been a better option than convincing himself to try and change her mind. The harder he worked towards trying to win over her stupid self would be less time spent trying to woo the mare he deserved. Maybe there was still time to save him; all she had to do was give a flat and rude ‘no’. Losing a friend would hurt so much, but he would be happier in the end even if the pastry mare was not. He was what mattered. Yes, it would be best this way. She was sure of it. Bakewell frowned, took a breath to steady herself, and made her tone as forceful as possible.

    “Scrap Parts. Don’t you dare…”

But it would hurt. Losing Scrap as a friend would hurt so badly. She had lost a friend before, though admittedly to much grimmer means. Losing Cream had hurt; it had hurt so bad that the mare never thought she would ever recover. It was entirely possible that she hadn't recovered. Bake didn’t want to go through that again. She certainly didn’t want to willingly force it upon herself. The earth pony’s stomach twisted in knots as she said the words. She couldn’t do this.

“…start singing up at me through windows. I will throw shoes at you.” She finished, trying to salvage the start of the dooming sentence and form a joke out of its remains.

Kes didn't take his eyes off of the stallion before him, though the presence of a bottle of one of his favored spirits did ease him back a bit. Not that it was noticeable. Kes still looked like he was ready to kill.

Seeing the bottle out of the corner of his eye, Kes let his mind wander again. The big gryphon had learned long ago that a lot could be told about a person by the spirit that they drink. Fancy wines and champagne was the favorite of snobs and rich folk., beer for the cheap and the drunk, and for the true grit of the wastes, the folk that didn't bother with cheap words and instead took action, Whiskey prevailed.

Kes could tolerate folk that drank whiskey.

"Name's Kes." The big gryphon said, introducing himself, his voice was gruff and just as cold as his gaze. He kept his eyes on the stallion even as he poured a small amount of whiskey into his tea cup and took a shot. The slow burn and smokey flavor was different from the tea, but it was not entirely unwelcome.

"Yeah, we've met a few times...and in a few time periods bu-"

Scrap started and had begun to ramble, his confidence beginning to return slightly before Bakewell started to talk again. Only this time her tone was different, a forcefull tone that Scrap dreaded, for it meant the rejection was coming. His confidence began to falter again as he braced himself agains the wave of sadness that would accompany the rejection.

Yet it never came. The dreaded words were not spoken. Despite that the joke was obviously forced quickly to avoid some other possibly devastating combination; Scrap didn't care in the slightest. She hadnt said no and that was all he cared about.

"Don't worry about that...I couldn't sing to save my life, heck-I'd probably throw shoes at me I started singing..." Scrap said back happily, still happy there was no blatant rejection. "So where does this leave us?"

Zestari let Cross and Winter go. Such a cute couple, she was glad that Cross had found somepony special, he was very much a changed stallion from the one she knew from their time travelling caper. With a sigh she began to scan the room, looking for somepony else to talk to.

    "Howdy."

She jumped as a pony whispered in her ear and turned towards them, a surprised on her face that was quickly followed by relief when she recognised that it was Happy Trails.

Once she acknowledged him, he kept whispering in her ear, as he did, she took the opportunity to look him over. He looked good, his coat was brushed till it practically glowed, his mane trimmed and tidy; wearing clothing that she imagined would have cost a fair few caps. He certainly looked better than compared to some of the times in New Pegasus when she had to patch his wounds as he bled over her. She cast an approving eye over him, before realising she was staring. She quickly flicked eyes back onto the stallion's face.

When he brushed up against her, she froze, and gave the stallion a small smile. Her cheeks felt warm. Was she blushing? She never blushed.

Go somewhere to talk? She gave a small nod towards Happy and let him escort her away.

A small smile cracked across Rodeo's muzzle. Again, he chocked it up to the alcohol. Which could be a good thing. Maybe if the griffon could lighten up a bit, he'd find a more talkative side.

"Was that too hard?" Rodeo asked sarcastically with a chuckle, pulling the bottle back and taking another swig. "Folks call me Rodeo. I'm a mercenary. What about yerself, partner?"

He pushed the bottle back towards Kes, and leaned back in his seat.

Trails took one of Zestari's hooves, he felt his heart go racing as he did so, and led her out of the ballroom. The sea air stung at his nostrils will salt, it sprayed him with water. The combination of warm air and cool water was strangely pleasant, Trails could see why sailors stayed out at sea so long. He led Zesty to the bow, overlooking what felt like all of creation, and stopped. He looked at the mare, looked at her eyes and fought the impulse to get lost in them.

"Zestari," he whispered, "I know I'm supposed to be the guy who's always got a line. The stallion who can talk down a ticking time bomb. But the fact is, I'm at a loss every time I look at you. Every time I see you I find that the words just get jumbled together and I lose everything that I want to say." Trails sighed and leaned in close, he could smell her again, she was intoxicating. "I suppose the one message that seems to keep comimg back to me, no matter what, is just what you mean to me. I can't define it, I've never really tried to before now. I care about you Zestari, and I don't want to see anything happen to you."

Kes listed carefully to what Rodeo said, and added the details to his slowly growing mental file on the pony. Funky name, then again Kes had found that most ponies had strange names.

And he was not really one to talk, Kestrel was a strange name in its own right.

So, Rodeo was a mercenary? Kestrel was about to say that he was much the same but stopped. He acted like a mercenary in many ways, but that was not exactly right on the nail head. Kes did do jobs for money. He hunted, killed, stole, acquired, scavenged, and survived; sometimes for money, sometimes because it was necessary. So what would that make him? A mercenary? A wanderer? A tool to be used?

No. Those were but titles, weak words used to describe odd jobs. Kes was something different, he was something more.

"Predator" The gryphon finally said, coming up with something for Rodeo to latch onto.

It was a strange thing to say, but it really did suit the big, mask wearing gryphon well. Far better than the title of mercenary or scavenger.

He hunted, killed, scavenged, and most of all he survived just like a true predator did. He took money and reward only when he needed it, and even then he took only what was necessary to get by. Never more, never less.

Just like a predator in the wild.

Rodeo smirked, and gave a nod. A predator. Guess it made sense, him being a griffon. A carnivore. Rodeo lifted a hoof and rubbed around his mouth some, thinking.

"A predator," he repeated, still thinking, rocking in his chair some. "Do you mean like a hunter? Or just... a killer..."

At least he seemed happy enough for now, though it was becoming painfully obvious that dancing around the question wasn’t working. That was a shame, because Bakewell really felt as though being able to sidestep the issue in her own mind would be absolutely fantastic. Scrap wanted an answer, but she didn’t have one. She was torn between what she felt was right and what she felt would hurt. She wanted Scrap to be happy in the way she wanted all of her friends to be happy, but was still having trouble devising a good outcome that she could take without hating herself. No option seemed like the winning ticket, and she was running out of time.

“Scrap, don’t be upset, please please don’t be upset, but I don’t know. I really really don’t.” She finally confessed. “I don’t- You des- I’m not-“ She paused and stomped a hoof in frustration. Oooh, to Tartarus with this stupid stuttering nonsense! She had spent entire weeks in the desert with this pony and had been just fine talking to him before now. She had sneered and taunted and openly mocked Scrap before, and the two still had managed to get back to talking terms! She had formed more coherent sentences when she was being soaked by his dying body. They had recovered their friendship from much worse than a tea party! Why was this so hard? Was it the dress? It had to be the dress. She was ditching it the moment the party ended.

“You’re talking to the wrong mare, Scrap.” She sighed, maybe just letting her all of her doubts out would be best. It was better than lying, at least. Scrap had proven himself able to see through her lies relatively easily before anyway. He was smart like that. “I’m not sure if I would even know love if it bucked me in the face. I certainly don’t know anything about being a marefriend.” She pulled back onto her hindlegs and made a circular gesture around herself with her two forelegs. “Look at me! I don’t even know how to wear a dress! This is the first time I’ve ever put one on. It’s terrible and uncomfortable and I hate it!” She paused and took in a gulp of air, taking time to calm her heart and lower her voice some, it had been rising in volume and she didn’t want the entire boat to know about this.

“I just don’t want to hurt you, Scrap. Do you remember Harmony lane? That wasn’t just some stupid pre-war tech messing with my brain, I used to be that. I used to do all of those terrible things and I used to enjoy them.” Her voice lowered to a whisper. “I murdered my best friend with my own two hooves. I’m not a nice pony, Scrap. I’m a monster and you deserve to set your sights so much higher. I want you to find a girl who’s smart and caring and attractive and will always be there for you; that’s who you deserve, not me. I-I don’t even know how we’re even still friends after the things I’ve put you through” She paused and looked down, kicking her hoof against the deck slightly.

“But I guess… I guess if for some silly reason you still want to try, I’ll try as well. It’s the least I can do and the most I can promise. “

Twisted Vision once again felt the back lash as she was knocked on her rump. Screaming in frustration she got up walking to the other side of the boat. "What did you do to me! This isn't fair!" She shrieked at herself. I decided to test you! Your now a child again! The voice said laughing I get to cause chaos too! He laughed. This cause Twisted to shriek in anger again and flop on the ground, covering her face. This party was ruined for her now, and she didn't even make a friend.

"I hunt..." Kes started, finishing off his little cup of whiskey, then grabbing the bottle filling his cup again before setting it down silently.

"...I kill..." he continued taking another sip of the smokey amber fluid.

"...I Survive." the gryphon finished, eyes still locked on Rodeo's own, as he set his cup down again. Kestrel took no pleasure in killing others, just like a predator took no pleasure in killing its prey. He felt no remorse, just like a predator did not. He did what he did because it was necessary, because it is what he was good at, because it is what his instincts and experiences told him was right.

Throughout the entire explanation Kestrels voice had remained even and calm, cold and gruff. It never wavered, or shifted even the slightest bit.

Even when the mare in the corner shrieked and buried her head in her hooves on the ground.

Lightning would think about his little goals in life before giving a small shake of his head, "No, actually. I'm actually pretty content in life. The wastelands are hard but living in Stableton is not so bad. It's no stable but it's the only home I got left. Plus, with friends like these, there's nothing more I really want. Except helping others. That's one thing I probably that would always be my goal." He would look at the others when he mentioned his friends, knowing how he fought beside alot of them.

Scrap waited for Bakewell to finish speaking this time before he started to respond. The new revelations about Bakewell's personality and past didn't change a thing for Scrap. Though it did explain why she was acting squirrelly earlier and tried to avoid his questions back when they were in the mohoofe.

"I would still like to try Bakewell, very much so." Scrap began before continuing "Your not a monster Bakewell. You did what you had to do to survive and as horrible as it is there was nothing wrong with what you did. If anypony is a monster it's me. You feel remorse about what you had to do. Back during the Battle for Stableton, I killed a pony. I felt no remorse about it, I even got a small sense of satisfaction from it...I know thats horrible but..." he trailed off for a second before continuing "and as for yourself in Harmony Lane, you said it yourself. You used to be that you aren't anymore. The Bakewell I know and love is a nice caring pony who came to the rescue of a broken unicorn and carried him to safety when you could have just as easily taken what I had and left me there to die."

Scrap took a pause here for a couple seconds to collect his thoughts and figure ou the best way to proceed from here.

"So I would really like to try, if your still willing too after that...I don't know anything about being in a relationship either...I guess we would learn as we go...we wouldn't have to be all fancy about things either, no need for dresses or anything...I thought you were beautiful after trudging through the desert for days, the dress is simply bonus..."

Moving is always so tiresome. Particularly when one had to drag a pony and a plastic tea set along, well actually that later was easy. Dragging along Blazen was the hard part, mostly because the colt could resist if he so desired. To that end Sawdust let him go if he did, or continued until she'd invaded Kestrel's table. Ploping a doll down first, then the tea set then a new cola, cap unopened.

Then she sat down, back on the other party goers, a small enough number of them were unarmed as far as she could tell that she wasn't worried about injury and none were carrying Slave Collars, which meant it was somewhat OK to not watch them. She wanted to talk to Kestrel. Cause he was ... Awesome? No, well yes, but screw it, "Hey! So, I saw you guys were having a party with Tea and stuff and Mrs. Sparkle isn't the best conversationalist so I moved, mine into yours! Cola?" She pushed it toward Kestrel with a slightly off smile, one side not quite as far back as the other.

Blazen wrestled away from her grip and went back to his table. The mare had dragged him, woo. And here he was, back at the table, and alone yet again.

    For once, he hated himself.

Sky heard what Flash said, "with friends like these," Something inside Sky just clicked. She had been with flash in alot of adventures, something in the Pegasus's words made her feel different. Sky just smiled at flash, he seemed to look rather well in a suit. Just a basic suit with no fancy additions like a flower or something to that degree, made him look like suave of a stallion.
