    ---Pipbuck Call: Dr. Heartrose Ph.D.---

"...*static*....Why hello there my little ponies...I see you've managed to reach Harmony intact...I'm so happy for you...For you see....my name is Dr. Heartrose....and I'm the leader of a little community called 'The Pride', we are a small group of ponies struggling to survive in a dying city...we both want the same thing right? to survive! so why do you and us work together what do you say? You have anything...please....feel free to ask..."

Stepping outside, the group could see a small fountain with murky brown water, several patchs of dirt that appeared to have formed a miniature garden around it, and a huge blood stained script on a what was once a lovely mural. The most noticable feature though was the music playing...

    "SALVATION LIES WITHIN"

At the end of of the 30x30ft room, were two expensive-looking doublewide doors, an expensive but broken chandelier filled the sky line, however something was causing it to rock a bit, there was not enough light to tell.

Looking to the right, there was a dim light source of the ocean, which showed off the rest of the brightly lit city

Cross gasped as he woke up and stared outside at the city passing by... He looked around trying to get a sense of his surroundings, only the vast city laid out before him managed to calm him down...but eventually they docked and they were releashed.... Cross marched forward past the others through the door, shaking his head in frustration. Had anypony been paying attention they would've seen his anger, his deep breathing, and his eyes twitching...

Calls came on on all the pibucks from some ...Dr. Heartrose....Cross shut it off he didn't want to bucking hear it... staring into the fountain, Cross continued shaking his head in disbelief.

He wasn't out of it just yet...the last thing he remembered was letting go of Winter.

Cross brought up his hooves to his head and growled at the reflection in the fountain....Evantually he calmed down, sighed, and turned to face the others.

"...Any......any of you have a plan...?" normally Cross had ideas, always had plans on what to do.

But not this time, he didn't know what he could do, why, how, or what. He only wanted to find Winter....but he had no clue where to start. Quickly he remembered the crazy mare who had called over the pipbuck and snapped back on the signal...

"Have you've seen a light blue mare with bells for her cutie mark!??!" Cross stammered as clearly as he could into the pipbuck.

Fear. The pod was ripe with it when Sawdust regained consciousness. She checked herself quickly, before she bothered to check where she was, gun, miraculously back in its holster, knife in pocket, Twilight, also in pocket. Spare clips and multitool, still strapped in tight, who said Paranoia didn't have its occasional upshot. Her food was ruined though, but her last sparkle cola survived the dip. Now to survey surroundings.

She jolted to full fight or flight as she realized she was in an enclosed metal sphere with one apparent door. Hyperventilation started almost immediately as did voices, memories made manifest into her reality. The scared yells of her mother, the pained grunts of her father, distant yet so close. As the doors opened they reached their crescendo, "MOMMA!" The little yellow mare yelled as she rushed out the door, her gun in mouth and ready to shoot... Nopony.

She looked around, her mind catching up to reality, nopony there. Her jaw went slack, the gun falling to the floor with a clunk. She fell to her knees and for a few seconds before the transmission began, weeped.

She silently listened to the voice, eventually getting that there were others around her. The normally confident Crossroads and a few others her mind refused to recognize right away. ... Sawdust nodded, sat and pulled out her doll, facing it toward herself, she had to think, Cross wasn't going to be helpful all panicky like that and she didn't know the other ponies even sorta well enough to know if they'd be useful. Kes wasn't around now, so it was up to her, the Rookie.

... "Uh huh." ... "You think?" ... "He might get." ... "Alright." Sawdust stowed Twilight and walked over to Cross, she spoke quickly into his Pipbuck, "Ms. Doctor Lady, what kind of place is this? You said Survive, is it tough then? Are there lots of scary things and Bad Ponies or something?"

Lucky Draw woke up for the second time that day in a strange place. He jumped to his feet, and looked around. A message was playing on his pipbuck, but he didn't care to listen. The last thing he remembered was being sucked out of the ship and into the cold water.

Lucky saw Cross desperately trying to communicate with the voice on the pipbuck, some 'Dr.' Heartrose. He looked down at his own machine before calling over to the other pony.

"Cross, where the fuck are we?"

Nix rolled over and shook a bit to somewhat dry off the soaked suit that he was wearing. Noticing that though he stood up on his hind legs and pulled the suit off and over his head before throwing it to the ground with a wet thump. He then took note that his saddlebag was lying just a couple feet from him. Trotting over to it he noticed that all of his random crap was still in there and his ledger had some how made it completely untouched. Smiling to himself he adjusted his glasses and got a better view of his surroundings.

If he was drinking something at that moment it would of been plastered all over the glass walls by now.

Water for as far as the eye could see. Taking of his glasses and polishing them a bit he put them back on her face to see the exact same thing.

''By the stars. What in the name of Tartarus did I drink before the boat went down......''

Kira had not been sure what had happened it had happened so fast, from every thing being calm to the ship going other. The gryphon most have been knocked out right after as she did not remember much after that. It was not until after the small sphere-pod-thing had docked and the door had opened when she woke up.

Kira got out and of the pod and was what she guessed had been some kind of park or atrium as well as the others that were with her, at least she would not have to be alone in this place. Hearing to voice on her Pipbuck she was actually not that surprised that some would have survived in this strange city.

Just great was all she though as ponies with her seemed to be less stable then her during her worst, just when she actually have gotten over the worst of it where ponies breaking around her. Or at least freaking out.

"Right everypony and Zebra calm down and try to figure out were we are and what we can do to get out of here." Why did she have to try to be to voice of reason when she her self where probably worse then them all, but at least she did not snap like she would have done before this little trip.

Post by Bakewell Tart Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:16 am

Bakewell did little more than stare at the ceiling, remembering the experience of water sweeping over her as she tried to keep afloat. Eventually sinking with burning lungs as desperate bubbles escaped from her mouth. The panic, refusal, and acceptance of the inevitable as the air left her lungs. It had been both horrifying and much less painful of a death than she had been lead to believe.

Except if she was dead then Tartarus had really tried to be hip and update with the times.

As the pod opened and the inhabitants filed out, Bakewell took the time to calmly watch the other equestrians. She briefly recognized a few of them, but some were complete strangers. She found herself secretly caring little about anypony who was there; it was those absent that concerned her.

“Doctor Heartrose. I would like to expand on an earlier question.” The pony spoke into her pipbuck. She was nervous, and her voice was dry with a slight stammer to it, but at least she wasn’t in a full blown panic. She was still thinking straight.

“There were more of us, a lot more of us. Are we the only ones who made it?” she asked carefully. Everything else- Panic, survival, plans, escape- could wait. Discovering the fate of the ship’s other passengers was drastically more important.

Kira was glad to see than some of the survivors she was with had a clam head so the could organize and get out of here, but with Cross close to have a break down and and the other just to confused to do something she would have to snap some sense in to them.

"Okay every one that can try to find anything we could use, health potions, bandage, rad-away anything that we might need. How know what are beyond those doors." She pointed a claw at the big fancy looking door. "Make a weapon check as well, we might have to fight."

Kira walked up to Cross and smacked him across his face with her good wing to get him to focus on her. "Cross get a hold of your self. If we survived thanks to that sphere-pod-thing then other might as well, such as you marefriend." She really hoped Cross would not get angry for smacking him but she did not know what ells to do, she was not good to talk with ponies. "Right Bakewell continue to try to reach this Doctor person, maybe if she can transmit then we can as well we just need a large transmitter like a radio station."

Rodeo finally came to, and coughed up a gulp of salty water. He rolled onto his front and coughed furiously for a moment. When he finally managed to open his eyes and get a look around, he had already realized something was off. His instincts kicking in and his adrenaline speeding up to help process the new information. He came out of his little area and into the room with the others. He looked around and noticed several faces immediately. Most notable would be Cross Roads, and that yellow mare from the boat... Sawdust.

He was spending plenty of time looking around the room, surveying his environment as the transmission began to play from the pip-bucks of those ponies who had them. He sat back onto his haunches, and opened his jacket to inspect his inventory. He still had his 9mm pistol, and an extra magazine for it. One round used to shoot the lock off the door of the party room back on the ship. His knife, still fastened to his ankle. Cross Road's set of cuffs in a pocket. One bottle of whiskey, a quarter filled. Finally, his guitar was securely strapped to his back still. Thank God.

He pulled his pistol out, ejected its magazine, and replaced the missing bullet. So many questions. 'Is there danger? Survive? Where are we?' All unanswered questions. Yelling at a machine may not answer it.

"We best do what the phone pony says we do. We gotta survive, we best prepare ourselves fer anythin'..." he said as he slid the mag in and clicked the slide back into place.

"As for you...No I do not have any knowledge of a blue mare matching that description...I'm so sorry dear..." to Cross.

"As for your question my little pony...I am not completely sure, but there was alot of activity when you ponies arrived.....*static* I'm losing my signal, you'll need to make it through the district before I can- *static*....."

"Ya'll can do what you like, I'll follow."

The grumpy voice came from Lucky, who had just discovered that his flask had come open while he was adrift. He poured the brine out of it, and replaced it in his pocket. Continuing with the bad attitude he said, "My gun's fucked up though, that damn radioactive seawater's gotten in and jammed it. Anypony got a spare firearm I can use?"

As he spoke, he fiddled with the dials on his pipbuck, trying to hone in on the location of the radio frequency before he lost it. He wasn't too good at this however, and so he wasn't doing very well.

getting on four hooves he observed his surroundings looking to his right he saw the brightly lit city of......... Well the name wasn't important right now.

The voices of nearby ponies hit his ears, feeling like he could maybe get some answers as to where he was he went over to investigate......

Cross looked disappointed as he heard the news...no sign of Winter, but there was a good chance she was somewhere in the city...
"...I don't know anymore than you Lucky, but it ain't somewhere nice....at least not anymore...."

While Kira spoke to the others, Cross settled down and stood up, dusting himself off...He went back into the pod and donned his gear....

"Youre right Griffon...." Cross's voice dropped.....a scarab-like mask appeared over his face with two pincers flaring with fire....Cross chuckled.

"We'll find them....." his voice filled the dramatic metallic tone as it did so many months ago.

"Alright, go through that locker and lets go...." Cross directed the ponies at the footlocker, there wouldn't be anything he really needed....and walked straight up to the door, and began to push through...

Rodeo was the next one on his hooves and heading to the door. He left his jacket open so he could easily reach his pistol if need be. He had also ripped the sleeves off his jacket, so his knife was exposed. He didn't need to look good anymore, he just needed to be tactically ready. And, have all the pockets inside his jacket. Not to mention the extra padding.

He followed after Cross as they passed through the door. "That's right, partner. She's out there, use 'er as inspiration," he said calmly and quietly to him.

Post by Bakewell Tart Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:57 pm

The answer was not nearly as helpful as Bakewell had been hoping for, but even if it hadn’t been a flat out “no” Bakewell knew the chances of survival for her friends was slim; especially if they also were tasked with dangerous missions from some random pony. Her friends were dead. All of her friends kept dieng. What was she doing wrong? Everything, clearly. Maybe it was time to start back at step one and try to be helpful. If the third attempt ended in everypony getting killed she would just give up.

Bakewell took initiative sorted through the footlocker when Cross asked. She didn’t like him and probably never would, but at least she could appreciate his current goals.

“I don’t know anything about most of you, so you’re going to have to come and get this stuff yourself if you can use it. Maybe we should share names or something as well. Mine’s Bakewell.” She gestured to herself before shoving her face into the footlocker. What prizes would it hold inside?

“ Anypony here good with medicine? We’ve got a few health potions. We might want to try splitting them up in case somepony dies or falls onto their saddlebags or something.” She called out to the group as she set the restorative items to the side. “Don’t be greedy and steal all of them for yourself. We're all a team whether you like it or not. I can punch pretty hard and that yellow unicorn attacked my hometown with an army, broke almost every bone in my husband's body, and then set the town on fire. Later he ran for Mayor. We can take you, so no backstabbing.” Argh, referring to Scrap as her husband felt so wrong. Did this mean she was a widow? Was there a minimum time requirement? Whatever, let's see what else was hiding in this little goody chest… Oh.

“We also have some of those smaller guns that shoot bullets really fast.” She added, pulling out the nine millimeter and brandishing it in hilariously impractical pose before setting it aside as well. “Also three ammos for it. Dunno if any of you are good shots, I’m not. There’s also one of these ten millymater handguns.” She paused and showed it to the group in a similar display. “No ammo though. That looks like just about every- oh, what’s this..? Oh my…”

Bakewell’s eyes had fallen onto the copy of Sword Mares. Why did this exist? She grabbed it, gave it an inquisitive glance, and walked over to Sawdust.

“Here, Pukey. This is for you.” She joked before pushing the magazine towards the weaker mare.

Bakewell turned as she heard an unfamiliar voice. Another unfamiliar pony amongst a sea of unknown or scarcely-knowns shoved into a strange city with only the radio’d voice of a mare they didn’t know to guide them. What could possibly go wrong?

Bakewell, unarmed, trotted up to the newcomer.

“Great! Are you from the boat? We’re going on an adventure. You should really come with us because you’ll probably die otherwise, and I doubt that you want that.” She spoke quickly, as she began trying to nudge Dawn Blaze towards the group.

“This place doesn't really seem all that safe, though. So we should probably get moving before something nasty finds us.”

Cross nodded at Rodeo in agreement but before he could push through the door, he heard Bakewell....talk about him. Cross angrily turned and marched up to Bakewell and glared at her. But his mask disappeared and so did his expression with it. He wasn't mad, ...he looked like any moment he might just fall over and start weeping....

Which is why he kept moving.

"Bakewell...I know you don't like me...but I promise you I had good reasons for what I did at Stableton. I- I'm not asking you to forgive me....just please help me get through this...I just want to find Winter....please...."

Bakewell returned Cross’ glare with one of her own, but eventually the angry expression turned slightly more gentle. Slightly.

“No, Cross. I don’t like you, and I don’t care what your reasons were. Even if the repercussions were Celestia’s gift to the wasteland you’re still guilty. Nothing will change that, and I’m going to remind you of it constantly. The moment you either forget or forgive yourself for what you did to my family is the moment one or both of us will die. “ She sighed, her voice was no longer angry.

“I hate you, but I’m not seeking revenge. Not anymore. I’ll admit that back during the battle while I was slowly trudging away from my burning home town that you destroyed, carrying the tormented body of a good-natured buck that you carelessly threw into the air that I wanted nothing more than to see your head on a spike, but things have changed. I’ve seen you cry. I’ve seen you love. I’ve seen you hurt. You aren’t an inhumane monster. I am on your side and I will help you find Winter. If you need anything, let me know. I just don’t want you to ever forget what you did amongst ponies claiming you’re some sort of hero. You ruined their lives; it’s your job to remember them.”

She replaced her sad look with a smile as she resumed talking to Dawn. “Sorry about that. My name’s Bakewell. Nice to meet you, though honestly I wish our meeting was in nicer conditions.”

"awww look at the little fishies...and the way home and alreadddyyyy working Doctor Bitchrose hehehe..." the voice echoed throught the room.

"If you want my advice, I'd say lose her and go find Stock Option, he saves ponies like you...do me a favor and tell him I'm going to kill him HAHAHAH!!!"

the chandilier stopped shaking and the room fell silent. with only a shadow moving near the ceiling then dissappearing.

Well that was unexpected was Kiras reaction as the figure spoke to them and then disappeared again, she was not one to believe in ghost but the wasteland have created stranger thing and who know what this place had done to the ponies that lived here.

"Okay... So lets try this door." Kira moved carefully up to the door and pulled out her own 10mm pistol, it looked like it had managed to stay relatively dry but she was not sure if it would work, and then she slowly opened the big double door at the end of room and moved passed it in to the room beyond.

Sawdust spent several moments in contemplation, again many factors were presenting themselves, weapons, 'loot' and several ponies. She sat back down and took a moment to confer with Twilight, who by this point was dry and clean. "What do you think?" ... She nodded and spent nearly the whole time from the Swordmares Stallion edition, to the rumbling voice, staring at her doll apparently oblivious to the world. She was however listening.

Finally as the voice fades she speaks up, calm somewhat collected and ready to verbally strike back. She love to spout a one liner, like, 'Why you giving me that? Don't know what to do with it?' or 'Bitchey as ever. Nice to see some other things from the Sim don't change.' Instead she turned and made a rude gesture toward Bakewell, fished out her uncannily carved simulacrum in wood and tossed it to her, "That's how I feel about the name Pukey. My Momma named me Sawdust, so don't call me anything else." Luck was the only thing that got that out sounding even a little bad ass.

She stands and stows Twilight away in her pocket. The doll for a moment stares blindly at Bakewell before Sawdust turns the head forward, "So! Gun that shoots fast, lemme see I'm a pretty good shot." She trots over and examines it.

The yellow mare lets out an excited squeal as she picks up the 9mm Machinegun. With a light thump she sits down and sets about quickly breaking down the gun, smooth action, a few burs here, minimal wear on the internals; if she was trying to sell it she'd call it like new, but then again she was rubbish at selling things. After a quick reassemble she checks the switches and toggles all around the device. Good, good, good. With a few hoof strokes a magazine is emptied, loaded and the safety is off. Another half second is spent clearing the chamber then, in the mouth, point at wall and tongue the trigger. Click.

She spits the weapon out, "Plastic grips taste like ass. Checks out." She says as she refills the spare magazine she'd emptied to dry test the weapon. She slams home a fresh mag picks it up in her mouth and grins past it, now she felt bad flank. Mysterious Hat, Check. Mysterious Coat, Check. Bad Flank Machinegun pistol thing, Triple check! It was just too bad her coat lacked a good spot for the weapon to sit. Sawdust also scooped up a potion and everything else that didn't end up being grabbed by somepony else by the time everypony had a look at the box. Waste not want not!

"Don't shoot yer eye out with that, little filly," Rodeo quipped. Lots of arguing, and lots of confusion. Rodeo wanted to get his stuff done and get back. "How 'bout we start movin'. Ain't gonna get home er find the ponies we're lookin' fer in here now, are we?"

With that he turned and followed Kira out the door. Pistol ready to be drawn if needed, he slowly wandered out. He stopped, and looked over to the griffon. "See anythin?" he asked Kira, surveying his environment again.

"Welp, I don't know about you guys, but I'm taking this," Lucky said as he grabbed the 10mm pistol from the chest. Lucky then checked the clip in it and put it in a shoulder pocket. It had 4 bullets.

"So, anyone got any bright ideas? I'm trying to figure out where that damned frequency was coming from, but I'm having trouble with it." He thought for a second, and then added, "I didn't pay a whole lot of attention in science class."
