Zuberi looked around for a moment, then turned back to Sound. "Um... If you find me a book I can try reading some of it on my trips. I don't get much time to read, mostly have to write. As for stories, well..." Zubi put a hoof to his chin and tried to think of a good one.
"Well, one time my parents and I-... um, step, parents and I, helped this whole town not die by finding random little plants in the wasteland. Wanna hear that one?"
Zuberi waited for a response, and began. "Well, this was about when I was just six years old, I think... I was just a little colt, and my par- step parents and I were out on one of our caravan trips. We found a patch of these plants we had never seen before, and picked the fruit off of them. We didn't know if it was edible or not, but we took some anyway."
Zuberi wasn't too thrilled about telling stories, but since he started, he began to get into it, using his hooves to speak as well, and changing his tone or volume when necessary. "Apparently, there was this herd of big horns that always came to eat the fruit. And they showed up as we were leaving. We might have given it back to them if they had asked, but they didn't. They just started shouting and charged at us when they saw us near their plants.
"There was a big fight! I didn't have a gun, but my parents started-- I mean my step parents started to shoot at them, and had to dodge out of their ways. I climbed on my step mom's back, and we started to run, my dad was shooting back at them as they chased us up this hill. We got to the top, and dad shot them all as they climbed up after us. I mean, my step dad did; and they eventually gave up.
"So, after we got away, we went to this little town that was having a hard time getting food. So we went to trade the fruit with them, and they freaked out. They knew exactly what it was, and went and planted it. They made a huge garden of this fruit, and had plenty of food from then on."
Zuberi let out a sigh, and let his head droop a little. "I miss my parents... I mean, my step parents..." He glanced back to Sound, then returned his gaze to the floor. "I miss my parents parents, too... But I lost them when I was way small. I barely remember them. All I remember, is that they were great zebras... And that they died to save me."
