With the damaged protectron firmly covered by both Zestari and bakewell, Mona ducked back out fo cover and set her sights on the one with the stab wound. She aimed her pistol, and steadied several shots, carefully directed at the stab mark on the robots leg...such an armour breach would clearly be her best chance of disabling the protectron without permanent damage.

With both Zestari and bkewell focusing on one Protectron, the slow machine didn't have time to fight back before both attacks struck in a beautiful combo.

With Zes working the Protectrons limbs,, she quickly found a chink in it's armour, as the robots back leg gave out and it fell backwards slightly. However, this moment of weakness would quickly spell doom for the machine as it's movement would place it's head directly in the path fo a powerful buck from Bakewells Electric Hooves! The shocking, skull-crushing blow jammed both her hindlegs through it's metal framework, destroying the head and completely frying whatever CPU was in it. However, jamming ones hooves almost straight through a robot would not be a pleasant experience, and the muscular earth pony would suffer a few cuts trying to pull their legs back out of the hole they made...though they would be extremely minor compaired to their previous injuries.

As for the second protectron, it would find itself in a very bad position, as the gunfire struck true. While only one of Mona's shots struck through the hole, it did widen it considerable rather then do any real damage. This however meant that the followup from Ashen's bolt rifle was simply devestating, as it pierced right through the hole and ripped the leg off with aamzing power, sending it flying back intot he protectrons hindleg, the sickening crunch of metal indicating that that leg was no doubt out of commision as well, sending the robot toppling to the side. A second shot from the rifle would strike true, and blast a hold through the robots other leg, leaving it very out of commision.

However, the robot wasn't done yet.

With a hum, it opened fire from it's battle saddle at the largest threat, Ashen. While one blast struck the ground due to its awkward positon, the other found it's mark true, as it struck Ashen hard, leaving a fierce-looking burn on the Unicorn.

    -----------

    One Protectron is completely totaled!

The other Protectron is severaly crippled, with three limbs out of commision!

Bakewell is at 268 HP, due to extremely minor cuts from the sharp metal she just bucked a hole through.

Ashen is at 150 HP due to a very nasty (And very lucky) shot from the damaged Protectron.

    Zestari is unharmed.

    Mona is unharmed.

Ashen grunted as the prism blast seared his chest, burning right through his barding and incinerating the fur under it, leaving a very nasty and painful burn on his chest. He jerked back behind cover from the blast, hoof going for his chest as the pain reflexively broke the flat mask usually over his face.

The pained expression on his face didn’t last though, and after a brief moment closing his goggle-covered eyes he shunted the pain into the back of his mind, it vanished. There wasn’t time to worry about the pain, he needed to deal with this first, then he could pay attention with his own injuries.

The flat, blank expression returning to his face, he dropped his rifle and peaked around the corner again as he horn started to glow, before enveloping the front end of the crippled Protectron.

He attempted to shove the Protectron so that it was pointing away from everyone with a burst of telekinesis, however given his state it would be understandable if he couldn’t do it.

Regardless if he managed it or not, or if someone else pushed it so it was facing away, once its weapon systems were safely pointed the other way he would gallop up to it, ignoring the repeated stabs of pain in his chest, and attempt to shut the robot down completely.

Despite being hurled like a toy across the room moments before, it was having to pull her hoof out of the robot corpse that drew the most emotion from Bakewell. The mare winced and whined as she was forced to slowly pull her hoof from the debris she had created, inflicting nasty cuts on her rear hooves in the process. The act was made worse by the fact that her hind-legs were less agile than her forelegs, and therefor slightly harder to pull out quickly.

“That is the last time...” the pastry-marked mare gasped before seeing what Ashen was trying to do and moving over to assist with more physical means. She attempted to put on a brave face and ignore the growing pain from being socked by a creature of metal, a pain which had had started to truly set in now that the adrenaline from the fight was starting to fade. But nopony else looked too badly hurt and the earth pony didn't want to look weak in front of her allies. The group didn't really have any first aid to help her stupid self with even if she did complain. Still, Bakewell couldn't help but wince from the pain in her side when she moved. The mare briefly wondered if her ribs were broken. The realization of said possibility only made the pain even worse. “...that I buck a robot.”

Zestari was happy she’d found a weakness in the Protectron’s armour and following some swift blows, darted back with a smile as it began to topple over. Then Bakewell delivered that amazing blow destroying the machine in a cascade of shattered pieces, and she cheered.

She wanted to further congratulate Bakewell on her spectacular decommissioning, but a bright flash from the other Protectron grabbed her attention.

Watching as Bakewell and Ashen’s magic field started moving the robot, she did the only thing she could think of that might help. If the robot was going to fire again, then it should be at her, not the pony’s trying to move the robot into a position where it’d be unable to do further harm.

So, she ran to intercept where she suspected it was aiming and tried taunting it. She wasn’t sure if Protectron’s could be taunted, or how they even determined targets, but as she danced, made noise and waved at the robot, she’d try her hardest to make it focus on her.

While Ashen's magic wouldn't do muh to move the protectron, the assistance from Bakewell would be all he needed to knock the robot over, and give himself access to it's insides.

However, while Ashen would be succesful in shutting the robot down, he would discover that this violent attack was possibly not the best plan, as the robot had sent out a signal at the first sign of hostile contact. A red alert, that had no doubt set every robot in the building to kill the intruders on sight.

The second the robot had fallen, Mona charged out from their cover, as they skidded down right next to the machine, not wasting a second as they pressed their pistol up it's head, and therefore, it's cpu. If Ashen wasn't succesful in shutting this thing down, at least she was prepared to shut it down in a more permanent fashion before it could hurt anyone else.

However, this would soon prove to be unnessecary, as the robot's lights would dim to a faint red as Ashen worked.

As soon as the robot was completely pushed the other way Ashen burst out of cover, ignoring the constant pain in his chest as he stopped behind the fallen robot and opening the access panel on its back. Quickly setting to work, he pulled a cable out of his pipbuck and plugged it in, before beginning to hack into the robot’s systems. It didn’t take him long to get past its defenses and input the shutdown command, powering down the robot.

“It is done, the robot is disabled.”

His pipbuck providing enough power to at least access the robots internal memory, Ashen brought up the robot’s recent logs, to check to see if it sent anything during the fight, and it did. The entire facility was on red alert.

“...However the robot sent a message to the rest of the facility’s network when the fight began, the entire facility is on red alert.”

Ashen quickly pulled out of the logs and opened up system functions, a plan already formulating in his mind to avert this.

“I may be able to end the alert however, give me a moment. In the event I make an error however, keep that pistol trained at the CPU.”

He started powering back up certain sections of the robot’s systems, its communications system and database specifically. He left the robot’s actual artificial intelligence offline and disconnected from the rest of its systems, he didn’t want it to interfere.

Going back to the logs, he checked specifically what message was sent to trigger the red alert, the structure of it, if there were any specific codes that went with it.

If it appeared there were codes needed, he’d go into the database and try to dig up the proper code to give an all clear.

Once he believed he had everything he needed, he attempted to spoof an ‘All Clear’ message, to inform the rest of the facility that the ‘intruders’ were taken care of. If successful, it should end the red alert and make it much easier to deal with the facility’s defenses once they picked out the correct cards. If it wasn’t, he would have to hope the cards would be sufficient to make the facility believe they were not the intruders.

[Science/Repair 64, Tech Junkie (+10 to Roll), hack into the robot’s communications system and spoof an ‘All Clear’ message to end the Red Alert]

Zestari was glad that the other robot was quickly downed with little effort, and more importantly, with nopony getting shot again by the evil red beam.

She stood back as Mona and Ashen began doing their technical thing with the robot. She noticed a few injuries and whilst she hadn’t found any healing potions, some bandages made from torn fabric were an excellent way to offer some respite from injuries.

She wanted to tend to Ashen as she’d witnessed him taking the worst of the injuries, and therefore was probably in greatest need, however he was busy and probably didn’t need her fussing over him while he did his technical thing. So she turned the next most injured.

“Bakewell, are you okay? Need any bandaging?”

Despite Ashen's best attempts, he would find the ability to shut off the red alert just slightly eluding his grasp. The coding was quite complex, and made it impossible to shut down easily.

It appeared the group would have to shut down the other robots the hard way...

“Red alert?”Bakewell gasped. She couldn’t find more of these things! That robot had flung her around as though she were no more than a damp rag! She waited for an update. Surely Ashen would be able to end the alert, it couldn’t be that hard.

When Zestari asked if she needed bandaging, Bakewell put on a quick grin for her zebra friend. “I’m hurt a bit, Zesty, but I don’t think it’s anything that a bandage would fix. Being hurled across the room makes ponies pretty sore I guess. Go figure!”

If Ashen was capable of feeling displeasure he'd be frowning at that moment, but he was not, so his failure to end the red alert didn't even register on his face as he moved on to assessing the viability of the backup plan.

Which was also the original plan incidentally. The identification cards.

He went back into the robot's logs, examining the actual Red Alert message sent. With any luck, considering the robot previously couldn't identify facial patterns when it scanned Mona and registered her as the ID she was holding, they wouldn't have any method of actually identifying the 'Intruders' and simply assault unidentified personnel. And that's what he was checking.

Once he was done with that, he moved on to the robots databanks, and started searching for the employee records. They needed those if they wanted any hope of the ID Card plan to work, otherwise they were going to have to shoot their way through the facility, and if his chest and Bakewell's aerial performance earlier were any indication, these robots hit hard, so that wasn't exactly a viable plan.

As a final thing, he examined the robots artificial intelligence programming, to determine it's complexities and how hard it would be to...Subvert it.

    [Science/Repair 64, Tech Junkie (+10)]

[Examine Red Alert message to determine if the 'Intruders' can be identified or not.]

[Go into Databanks to find Employee Records, to find the codes to identify their ID Cards.]

As Ashen worked on trying to subvert the red alert, he accidentally triggered something in the robots code, causing it to suddenly flash back to life! In a split second, it's battle-saddle was jammed in Ashen's face, and charging for a shot.

Fortunatly, Ashen's head was saved from being blown off his body by multiple gunshots, as Mona pulled the trigger of the pistol she had jammed up against it's head, and completely eradicated it's CPU. The robot would dim, as it collapsed back to the ground, completely unsalvagable.

Ashen Coat was silent as he was saved from certain death by Mona Tones’ quick trigger. With the robot now nonfunctional and useless, he slowly removed the cable from its back and let it get pulled back into his pipbuck.

“Thank you.” he said to Mona as he stood up, his voice not even shaken despite nearly being killed. He winced and moved a hoof to his chest as another spike a pain jabbed into his chest, not even he was able to ignore it.

“These robots...They are nothing like what I’ve previously experienced in other factories at all. The models are the same, the casing, but their weaponry and strength are far beyond what I’ve ever seen in a normal Protectron.” he slowly moved his hoof away from the wound. “Even their programming is far above what I’ve seen in the robots I normally examine from factories like this, it’s beyond my skills. I would go as far as to say these robots are military-grade. This is no normal factory.” he explained, voice monotonous. He walked back over to the entrance they used as cover and picked his rifle back up, swapping out the spark battery and replacing it in his holster.

“If we are going to continue on this mission, we must have extra precaution. I would not be surprised if this factory contained more advanced, more deadly robot models. A Sentry Bot equipped with rapid-fire prism weapons would not be out of place here.”

Zestari chuckled slightly at Bakewell and started rummaging in her pack. Her head was buried in the saddlebag almost up to her ears when she heard the chilling sound of a robot powering up its vicious weapon. She tried to run, nearly tripping as her head got caught as she tried to pull it out of her saddlebag.

Before she could do much more than make a noise of concern, there was gunfire. Freeing her head she looked at the now destroyed robot, and then towards Ashen. Did he just wince? Did the robot shoot him before being broken?

She shivered at the suggestion that there might be worse mechanical monstrosities here, but for now, she had to prioritise Ashen over Bakewell, especially if the robot had just shot the stallion.

“Ashen, let me take a look at you. We’re not going anywhere until everypony is at least bandaged.”

Ashen glanced over at Zestari, nodding. He turned towards her, flinching from having to move his body, showing the prism burn across his chest.

“I took a prism blast to the chest during the battle. I am not sure of the severity of the wound, however it has not hindered me significantly besides the pain, which I have been able to endure.” he reported, as flat and monotonous as ever despite his reports of pain, which were proven by the early flinching.

“Do not use too many of our supplies on my wound, I do not know if we will find anymore here in significant numbers.”

Zestari gave a slow nod at Ashen’s methodical explanation of his wound. And once he was finished, she smiled at him. “No problem, I should be able to help this burn at least a bit. More importantly, if we dress it, you’ll be less likely to get an infection in it.”

She came a bit closer to better investigate the wound, and to make sure he wasn’t just playing tough and that the injury wasn’t worse than it seemed.

With a clicking of her tongue she reached into her saddlebag and brought out a bandage. She then brought out a cream and smeared some of the cream on one side of the bandage. She then wrapped it around the wound, trying to take care that she didn’t aggravate the injury any more than she had to.

Stepping back, she smiled. “There. How’s that?” She turned to Bakewell. “Are you sure there’s nothing I can do to help, Bakewell?”

“I think I’ll be fine.” Bakewell said. The smile, which had fallen when Zestari had turned away to deal with Ashen, returned to her face, though it was a great deal more nervous what with the talk of rapid-fire prism weapons and military-grade robotics.

“There’s nothing you can do that I know of, Zest. The only external wound is from some cuts, which are a bit painful but not bad enough to waste supplies on. I think that for the most part I’m just sore from spending a few moments in the life of a pegasus. Really really sore. Ashen’s probably more sore from being my landing pad, to be honest."

Ashen was still as Zestari applied the bandage and salve, not moving or flinching as the zebra did her work. When she was finished, the unicorn did note that the pain was significantly lessened, most likely due to the cream. It was still there, but at levels where it was easily ignored. A check of his pipbuck confirmed that his vitals were higher than before.

“The pain has decreased sufficiently that it can be ignored, and my pipbuck confirms that the bandage has repaired some of the damage the prism blast caused.” he reported, voice as flat as it always was. “Thank you.”

Ashen looked over Zestari’s shoulder as Bakewell Tart, the earth pony explaining that she was just sore and that Ashen himself was probably hurt worse by her landing then she was. Which wasn’t particularly true, the earth pony getting thrown at him doing little but giving him some very minor bruising and knocking the wind out of him. Judging by the force necessary to send a pony airborne the distance that she was, in all likelihood she would have been hurt more, she was lucky she didn’t break any bones. And Ashen didn’t see any logical reason to let this false information linger.

“Your impact did not injure me in any significant manner Bakewell Tart. I suspect that the force that blow would have required did more damage to yourself then you did to me. Although without any broken bones I doubt there is much that can be done to yourself without using a healing potion, which we lack as I recall.”

Mona would be quiet, as she listened to the group. The news that these robots were possibly military-grade was alarming, though it did make her glad that she had followed the advice of Trash and recruited the three ponies with her.

She would only respond when Ashen stated that Bakewell would probably require a healing potion. At this point, she turned to look around the room. There were a lot of cubicles, a lot of drawers. It was a long shot, but she had found stranger things in these types of places before.

"Perhaps there is something like that here."

Quickly, the Unicorn would begin pulling out drawers with her telekinesis, as she looked for something that might help Bakewell...however, all she found was a Bottle of Whiskey. There were still more drawers to search through though...

Zestari nodded at Bakewell, if Bakewell was fine apart from feeling sore, Zestari had no reason to think otherwise. She turned to Ashen and smiled widely at his unusual describing of his current condition. It was helpful to have such a clear explanation of how he was going, certainly made applying the right care easier, but it was disarming. Most ponies didn’t really talk about their ouchies in such a detached way.

“Not a problem, Ashen, let me know if you get any more pain, or some of the wounds reopen. No need to suffer unnecessarily.” She said in response to his thanks.

Listening to him question Bakewell she diverted attention back to her housemate. Was she injured? Was she lying to her about being okay? Why would Bakewell lie? She gave a pleading look to the mare; surely Ashen was wrong about Bakewell’s condition. “I probably have something here that can help with the pain.” She offered, wondering if Bakewell feeling ‘sore’ was actually a massive understatement.

She watched as Mona wandered off to look through drawers. That was probably something she could be helpful with, but first she needed to know that Bakewell was actually fine.

Bakewell gave Ashen a glare from over Zestari’s shoulder as he dispelled her attempts to direct the zebra’s concerns elsewhere. She quickly dropped the sharp look and replaced it with her standard smile when Zestari diverted her striped attention back to the earth pony.

“I’m fine! Really!” Bakewell insisted, sitting down with a barely masked wince. She would rest while the others searched the room.

“I don’t like the sound of “military-grade” very much, I’d rather not spend much longer here. What if other robots are on the way? Lots of them?”

If Ashen was moved at all by Bakewell’s quick glare he didn’t show it, face maintaining the flat look of passivity. He glanced over to Mona, who had begun searching through drawers for anything potentially helpful.

“Bakewell Tart is correct, we should not dwell here long. In all likelihood more robots will be approaching at any time.”

Ashen reactivated his EFS, scanning the surrounding area for any red blips on the detection bar. Of course this facility’s construction seemed to jam EFS signals somehow, but it was still prudent to attempt to detect any approaching enemies.

If the check confirmed that there were no enemies approaching, Ashen would move to assist with the search through the drawers. If only to speed up the process and get moving, faster.

“If you wish to confirm Bakewell Tart’s condition Zestari, the medical diagnosis screen on her pipbuck would the necessary information to assess her condition.” he informed the zebra as he searched.

Ashen would detect no robots coming in their direction on his pip-buck, however, the few pips visible on the device had gone from yellow, to bright red. Clearly the remaining robots in the facility had gone on high alert, and there would be no sneaking past them.

Mona would continue to search through drawers for a healing potion, but it would be something else that would catch her eye. Inside a cubicle with a still working computer resting on it, would be a rolled up sheet of paper, which on unraveling, would prove to be some form of complex blueprint, probably the same one they had been sent to find.

What it showed almost looked a bit like a Power Hoof, but instead of being a weapon...it looked like it was designed to be built into a strange mechanical limb. Anyone with decent mechanical knowledge though would realize that this couldn't be a cybernetic though...the design would never work with a living being!

Mona would raise an eyebrow at the strange device in the plans. She immediately recognized the Power Hoof aspects of it, but the rest...

"Ashen, Zestari, Bakewell, I believe I have located the blueprints we were hired to retrieve."

She would state, placing them back down on the counter for a second as she looked at the computer. It still seemed to be working, and logged in, despite the occasional glitch making itself evident on the screen. If this facility really was military, then perhaps they should try and gather as much information on the area as well as the three items of interest they were hired to retrieve.

With a few clicks on the keyboard, she would begin searching the computer for any text files or messages that hadn't been corrupted with time.
