Ale succeed in saving their hostess. He tackled the poor mare out from under the Chandler and laid on top of her to shield her from the shards of crystals that rained down. Once the crisis passed he got off and helped her up to her hooves. He looked over his shoulder to see that everypony else was able to avoid an untimely death and curious enough it appeared that trails had stopped to sample the hardwood floor. Ale turned back to bane silver and asked, "Ya'll o.k. miss silver? I hope I didn't hurt you, but I needed to act fast."

Lightning had followed the group all the way up to this point and even took a seat at the table. The pegasus just listened to the conversation silently until some commotion finally caught his attention and made him snap back to reality. A chandelier had lost it's grip from the ceiling and began falling toward the group at the table. The others had reacted to either dodge or get a friend out of the way but Lightning had decided to backflip out of his chair, out of harm's way, and hold a sustained hover behind him. Scanning at the others, it was good that the chandelier didn't hurt anyone or else things would have been so much worse.

Having managed to save herself and get out of the way, Cuppa pushed herself onto her hooves and dusted herself off slightly with her magic, shaking off her clothing. "Dun get up all at once, ah'm fine." She grumbled before walking up to the table to find her seat. "Ya might wanna make sure yer house ain't jus' fallin' apart, if ya dun mind me sayin' Mr Sooth Sight. Somepony could die if ya ain't careful." She added with a touch of annoyance to her tone of voice.

Rad had been thoroughly distracted by the prospect of food, so much so that he almost didn't register the falling chandelier, though luckily for the grey pegasus he noticed, just, and dove backwards away as it hit the floor. Though unlike the others who seemed to be taking the situation very seriously, Rad was now on his back giggling at the event. He had of course assumed that it was something put on by their hosts, it was too much like a ghost story for him to think he had been in any real danger. And as such he remained there for a moment, giggling like a colt at the 'entertainment' provided by their hosts.

Deus, having been traveling a ways behind the group, was hardly even able to see the falling chandelier. When she heard the crash and saw the change in activity, she continued walking at the same pace and wound up alongside the rest. She looked down at the shattered bits of the ornament, strewn across the floor. "Pretty."

Bane Silver screamed like a banshee as what had just happened finally sunk in. Meanwhile Sooth Sight had jumped high enough to almost grab hold of the remaining chandelier in the dining room, "WHAT THE DRACONEQUUS!!??" he shouted, "What in blazes happened!!?"

To those who now inspected the not quite so speedy and deadly chandelier would find that the electrical cables and support cables that had connected the chandelier to the ceiling above were not frayed in any way shape or form that would have suggested that they had failed on their own, but rather cut clean through, discounting earlier sabotage as well. Even more strangely was that the fixture had been operating perfectly as they had entered the room. The chandelier had been severed from its supports in one go. And there was no device, no clever contraption up above them which could have done the deed.

Kestrel took a quick, polite bite of his steak, before he turned his gaze on the chandelier. Something had cut it, and nothing was around that could have preformed the act. Which begged the question

Just what the hell had happened. First the lights, then the whispers, then the pictures, then the PipBuck, and now the chandelier. That settled it, something was strange about this house. Something that Kestrel did not like one bit.

As always he said nothing, and gave no signs to his thoughts. No he just sat there pondering, looking deep in thought as he watched the others silently. Really what could he say?

'Yup haunted house, alright then'? For rather obvious reasons Kestrel felt that would not help in the least.

Ale had to cover his ears to keep from going deaf from bane's screaming. He grabbed her by the shoulders and tried to calm her. "HEY, HEY it's all right, your safe, stop screaming." Once the mare had stopped and ale could hear himself think again, he looked up to the section of ceiling that once housed the chandelier. He expected to see a hole or some frayed cables, instead he saw that the line had been cut, and recently. "This was no accident." Ale said pointing it out to the others. "Somepony dropped that thing on us." He pondered how that was possible, they were the only ones in the room. Unicorn magic was a possibility but the only unicorns that weren't in danger from this stunt was himself, sooth sight and deus. The first two were highly unlikely and giving the white and yellow mare's reaction to the event made her a bit suspect. But ale wasn't going to go making accusations on a hunch.

There where two other possibilities, either the mansion had been infiltrated and and this was their attempt on the hostess's life or the place really was haunted. No ale refused to believe that spooks and specters tried to kill them, no assassins with stealth-bucks made far more since in the pony's mind. "Uhh sooth sight, you don't have any enemies, do you?" He asked.

Trails righted himself and glared at the ceiling for a moment. Then, slowly turning his head to Bane Silver, mouthed 'proper. home. maintenance.' With that he turned to Bell, more concerned for his friend than the panic stricken hostess.

"Well that wasn't my most graceful rescue attempt ever. You alright?"

Winter had frozen as the chandelier closed towards her from above. Her ears had fully folded, expecting pain before she felt hooves enclose around her pushing her to safety. Aside from the shattering noise made by the chandelier their had been an array of other sounds from shouts to screams before she finally opened her eyes again. She saw it had been Dash who had saved her and she smiled up at him before she slowly got to her hooves, "I'm alright, thank you" she said to Dash before tuning to Trails, "It's alright Trails, I feel fine" she repeated.

She looked back to the broken shattered chandelier and grimaced as she could only imagine what would have happened had it fell on her. Needless to say she would have been cut to pieces.

Deus truly liked the way the chandelier looked, shattered on the ground, spread out like a diamond mine without the stone parts. She stepped a little closer, and shoved her hoof into the mass of shattered glass and crystal. So pretty, so broken. We want more of the pretty, we want to know it. We want it.

Dash let go of Winter and let out a sigh of relief. He doubted he had ever reacted to something so quickly in his life. He wondered if Trails could have even outran him to Winter's aid even if he hadn't tripped on the Persian Rug. He looked over as Bane Silver finally stopped screaming and scrambled away from Ginger.

Meanwhile Sooth Sight charged up his magic, "Not that I know of Sir Ginger Ale... Though those Steel Rangers a few months ago might be a bit miffed that the rocket launchers of theirs couldn't even scuff the plating on the blast door... They were interested in acquiring the 30mm Cannon guarding the door, but unfortunately their transgressions resulted in the untimely demise of one of their fellows. I mean them no ill, but the house is designed to defend itself. They certainly couldn't have gotten inside."

With a casual sound of twinkling magic, Sooth Sight lifted all of the crystal shards as well as the frame, displaying a quite impressive feat of magic for the times. He obviously spent alot of his time reading books about magic. He placed the crystals and frame off to the side of the room, "Now, I made sure the support cables on these things were up to par about a week ago... No way they could have deteriorated so quickly... Now, where were we?" He looked over at Kestrel and nodded, "Right, well... To the table then." He walked around to the head place at the table and levitated over one of the coffin-shaped boxes, this one marked with his name. At each of the places the boxes were also marked with one of the guest's names.

Inside each of the boxes were the following items:

    1x .45 Auto Pistol
2x magazines full of .45 ammo.
    2x Weak Health potions
    1x pocket watch
    1x monocle

"These are your survival kits for the night, should you wish to remain." Sooth Sight explained, "Now, you might think it odd that I disarmed you all simply to rearm you. Now... For one, it is to avoid Great War-level firefights inside the mansion, it is far more fragile on the inside. For two, each of you is now armed equally. Lady Deus Crux here is now just as much of a threat to Sir Kestrel as he is to her... Taking into account suspension of disbelief."

Aquilinus nodded as he quickly equiped the pistol and looked down the sites with a smile. Happy the gun was going to be accurate he placed the potions, ammo and watch into his bag. Looking at the Monocle he laughed a bit, placing it on he couldn't help but just grin at the sheer stupidity of it at times.

Looking around he watched all the others looking through there boxes, laughing a little he sat down in his chair and watched the rest of the group get seated. After everyone had sat down he looked over to Sooth, "So what will be on the menu for tonight good sir Sooth?"

Ale had to give a whistle at sooth sights power of levitation. Once everything had calmed down he made his way over to the place at the table that had been laid out form him, the coffin box centered in front of him. Opening the box he was surprised to see some of the items, the potions made since but the pistol was intriguing. He levitated the gun out and looked it over. " .45 caliber, semi-automatic, good condition, really good condition, probably was stashed in the mansion when the bombs fell." He picked up one of the clips and loaded it into the pistol and pulled back the slide, the workings of the gun coming naturally to the unicorn. With a quick twirl he placed the firearm on the table and took out the next item form the box.

A lens on a chain? "Why in equestria would somepony ruin a good pair of glasses so that could put a chain on one of the lens?" ale wondered aloud. He still dropped it into one of his pockets, maybe he could find a use for it.

Finally ale took out the watch and popped the lid open. A smile crept across his face when he saw that it was still happily ticking away. Now this was a party favor, for those not lucky enough to have a pipbuck finding a way to tell time in the wasteland was highly valued, especially when one could not see celestia's sun, like when inside or underground. Ale placed the watch in his front pocket, attaching it's chain to his leather vest, he was not planning on loosing this little treasure.

With the items from the survival kit put away he levitated the now empty box off the table to make room for his meal. Looking to sooth sight he added onto what the zebra across from him asked. "Yeah mr. sight what kind of grub to have in this place, you wouldn't happen to have bacon would you?" Ale's mouth was watering from the mere though of the delicious strips of meat.

Kestrel silently appraised the things within the morbidly shaped box with naught but a nod. The Watch was taken out, checked to see if it was accurate with cross reference to his Pipbuck, and then slid into his inner suit pocket.

Not really something Kestrel could always use, but who knows.

The Pistol was loaded, checked for feed issues, and had its sights checked on a nearby painting; without firing of course. They seemed to be perfectly aligned. Someone had taken VERY good care of this weapon. Flicking the safety on with a talon, Kestrel slid the weapon into the other internal suit pocket.

Now he had three weapons to use if the situation got out of hand.

All this done, all that was left in the box was a simple, elegantly crafted monocle. Kestrel actually perked a brow at this. Why would something like this be included? The watch actually served a purpose...perhaps something was special about the monocle?

Shrugging a mental shoulder Kestrel took the monocle out and put it on, it fit surprisingly well.

Cuppa slowly sat herself down and opened up the box, picking through the things she was being given to help with spending the night here.

Then Ginger questioned the reason for a monocle, so Cuppa, trying to evade the thoughts of what would've happened had she not gotten out of the way of the chandelier, chipped in. "Tha's a monocle, Ginger. From wha' ah know, th' gentry o' Equestria b'fore the war used t' wear these jus' cause they look fancy."

Deus looked over the tools in the kit with little interest. She picked up the monocle first, examining it with her only eye with something was definitely not interest, amusement, curiosity, understanding, or any sort of positive emotion. What it was, on the other hoof, is anypony's guess.

As for the watch, she seemed slightly distainful, as if looking at a useless tool, such as any sufficiently arrogant pony might look at an astronomer's chart, or coasters.

The weapon she had little interest in, as she could use her horn if she really wanted to make a big, loud attack, probably with better results. She would have to find a way to fashion a more stealthful piece of weaponry out of things around the mansion.

Overall she was very displeased with the tools, and said nothing as she quietly did not keep anything from the box. She watched the others rummaging through theirs' instead, wondering what kind of ponies, and griffon, they were.

Examining the griffon, she was fairly sure she could not suspend her disbelief to that degree. He looked like someone who's life was killing. She wondered if there was anything else about him. At all.

She noted the other white unicorn's lack of understanding at the nature of the monocle. ..... Anyways. However, he seemed to be quite well-versed in the use of guns. She looked at her own again, doubting she could use it like that.

Something seemed a little wrong with the brown unicorn, but Deus couldn't quite tell from where she was seated. She never was good with examining things from afar. She was much more at home up close, very up close, with some pliers and various sharp objects. Though they usually didn't survive that. Then something would really be wrong... She chuckled in her mind.

Trails took the .45 out of the 'survival kit', slapped a clip in, and snapped the slide into place. He'd used pistols like it extensively over the years, knew he could rely on it. The health potion was of the make that served as more of band-aid than cure-all tonic. Still, it was better than nothing. The pocket watch was a nice trinket, the stallion would probably never use as anything other than a paper weight. The monocle was much the same, but he could use it to start fires when he was back out in his desert. He put the eye piece on and thought for a moment...nah it wasn't his style.

"Not wanting a firefight inside your home is understandable," the stallion began, "but if this 'big bad' is as terrifying as you're making it out to be I'd think my gear'd be able to take it down a damn sight easier than this."

Upon closer inspection, each of the guests would discover their names etched into the grips. Other than that there wasn't all that much to note of the pistols, other than their pristine condition for being 200-year-old firearms.

Sooth Sight looked at Happy Trails with a strange look, "Well, Mr. Trails, I don't believe I stated that there is any sort of monster inhabiting my mansion... I mean, heavens..." he chuckled, "I would know if such a thing existed, and by now the automated defense systems would have attempted to deal with it, causing quite a rough." He quirked an eyebrow, "Although, one can never be sure, as the chandelier over there demonstrated. I was quite surprised by that myself."

Meanwhile, Dash had went over to his own box and ran his hoof over the letters of his name on the grip of the pistol. It was strange to see his name in such a fancy font and engraved on the grip of a .45 pistol. If he ever sold the thing, somepony would be like, 'Hmm... I wonder who Galactic Dash is?' It was a little unsettling, but nothing that Dash couldn't ignore or, hay, fix.

Bane Silver scrambled away from Ginger, giving the unicorn a bit of a glare, thinking about how dirty the pony must be from his trip over to the mansion and about whether or not Stableton even had showers anywhere near it. Meanwhile, Sooth sight cleared his throat, "Ah, I believe as the hour nears us, it is time to announce the groups for the rooms, which may or may not be a deal breaker for any of you... Depending on whether or not you plan on sleeping, but they are as follows.

"Rad Boom shall be with Deus Crux
Lightning Flash shall be with Kestrel
Galactic Dash shall be with Ginger Ale
Happy Trails shall be with Winter Bell
and lastly, Cuppa Beans shall be with Aquilinus.
    Any Objections?" Sooth Sight asked.

Aquilinus perked his ears up as he heard the names being listed off, looking around he tried to spot Cuppa. As he finally figured out who she was he waved over to her. Smiling he looked down at the food and started to nibble on them lightly, it had been a long time since he had last eaten something this good. Savoring the taste in his mouth he remembered seeing something odd about his new gun and brought it back out. On closer inspection he saw his name engraved on it, taking a big gulp of his food he coughed as he starred starry eyed at the weapon.

Placing his new gun on the table he looked at it, something with his name on it. It seemed so surreal to him that he had something he actually owned. Running his hoof over it he let the engraving dots fill with his hoof as he just let his mind wander around his past and what he might learn while he is there.

Rad took a look in the box with his name, the prospect of stuff so very appealing to the pegasus. He opened it and his eyes lit up, not at the pistol, though he was happy to once more have something to wave around if needs be. Or the potions, useful as they were. But the monocle! A useless thing really, likely of no interest to most, but to Rad... One of the best things he would ever come across. "Hah! No way!" He took it from the box and put it over his eye, taking up a mock regal pose. "Quite... I do say! Oh this is goin' to be a fun night indeed!" He then took the other things from the box, putting them away for later before turning to listen as their rooms were announced. And upon hearing that himself and Deus were sharing he turned to the mare. "Looks like we're paired up huh? Almost seems like a coincidence..."

Ale took another glance down at his new pistol, "The buck got it engraved." He smiled as he lifted the gun to his eye and gave it a once over. " Definitely a keeper." Ale was always the kind of buck that preferred revolvers over clip fed sidearms, but he'd never had one that personalized for him. Ale slipped the gun into his jacket next to it's 9mm little brother. With the pistol tucked away he looked back to sooth sight as he listed of the bunking groups. "Dash?" ale muttered, he looked across the table to the dark pegasus he would be sharing a room with. He remembered seeing the buck in the trenches of stalliongrad. "No objections here." ale said before looking back to their host, eagerly waiting on a response about dinner.

Trails didn't have much of an appetite, having eaten before coming to the 'party'. Not wanting to go full asshole quite yet he took a few bites from his meal and leaned back in his chair. He wanted to smoke, but figured that'd be less than appreciated from his hosts, so saved it for later. Instead he chose to comment on his bunking arrangement, simply saying he had no problem with it.

Lightning accepted his box with a small bow of his head and opening it, he noticed the contents was another .45 pistol. Well, the gun will come in handy IF he didn't sneak his own in. Oh well. More ammo for him. Ejecting the clip and checking the weapon, he would reinsert the clip and put the pistol in his pocket. Kinda nice that he had a pistol with his name on it now. Turning to listen to their host, it appeared that Kestrel was his roommate for the night. The stallion would look toward the black griffon and nod back in return, just continuing with his little dinner quietly.
