The griffon holding the little stallion nodded silently. A zebra shouldn't be too difficult to find, they had a rather peculiar scent about them, one Kestrel knew well.

Looking down Kestrel opened his mouth to speak. "One final question little pony." he started. "Do you believe in Celestia?" The slaver seemed confused by this question but swallowed his fear as best he could before answering. "Y..Yeah." Kestrel nodded and set his blade aside, taking it away from the pony's neck; replacing its bite with his now free hand. A quick repositioning of his body and Kestrel was ready.

"Tell her I said hello then."

At first the pony seemed relieved, Kes' question being innocent enough. But then...then he figured out what was about to happen. He began thrashing wildly, screaming, begging like a helpless child as Kestrel held him.

"No, nono, nononono, Please no, PLEA-AAAUUGGHHHHHHH"

The pony was cut off as his begging became screams of agony. Stomach churning sounds intensified and spawned into existence as Kestrel pushed his blade-covered thumbs into the stallions eyes, digging them deep. Normally Kestrel would have just snapped the stallions neck and moved on. The action brutal, but efficient.

This time however? Kestrel added a new step and instead activated his talons lightning enchantments. The sounds of arcing electricity filled the air with a terrible sound, drowned out only by the momentary throat-shredding scream of agony erupting from the ponies form as his body began to spasm wildly; the electricity cooking him slowly.

It lasted only two or three seconds at most, then Kestrel snapped his hands to the side, mercifully, ending the ponies life with a wet crunch of bone. Apparently even in a fit of cruelty Kestrel was not one to draw things out for long.

Casually, the griffon dropped the pony's still smoking form and reclaimed his blade, turning to face Kira shortly afterwords.

"Come. Let's check on the others, then we've a zebra to find." Kestrel growled, pulling out his Hellsing and moving towards the door. He braced himself against it and crouched down activating his armors special ability once more. He moved slowly this time as he peaked out to view the area beyond, searching for targets.

Upon seeing the approaching mare and her guard Kestrel pulled himself back into the room and deactivated his cloak.

"We've got company." Kestrel said, checking the pressure on his rifle and motioning to the door. "Silver mare and a guard moving to the pens." He said nothing after that, leaving the options to attack or yield to Kira.

    For now.

Cuppa gave a relieved sigh as Her magic bolt worked and Bake came to help her, smiling a little to the brawler of a mare as Cuppa gained some steady footing. Grimacing at the superficial wound Bake gained, Cuppa had her pistol aimed at the slaver as she talked to Bake.

"Ah need ya t' get movin' an' deal wi' another pony, Bake. We gotta get t' Kestrel an' sort 'im out somehow, he ain't thinkin' right. Ah think ah can deal wi' this one." Cuppa said as she'd keep her eyes on their opponent, he was in pain that much was certain, this was something she didn't enjoy about jobs like this... She didn't have a huge problem with killing them, but putting them through such pain, that was what made tasks like this difficult sometimes.

Once Bakewell moved on, Cuppa furrowed her brow and raised her .45 to the slaver's face. He was in pain and suffering... Best to end it and stop his suffering, otherwise things could go wrong. She would make as many shots as it took to put him out of his misery. Bakewell was trusting that she could manage this on her own now that she'd asked her to move on.

(Using all 35 AP to fire as many shots with .45 pistol as possible. Guns 30.
    8AP x 4 shots = 32AP)

Bakewell looked at Cuppa with one eye as the other squeezed itself shut automatically to prevent the trickling blood from getting into her eye. Get moving? Deal with another pony? But she was- but this wasn’t- Fine. She could tell when she wasn’t wanted.

The only other option was to run into the actual camp. Alone. In front of a horde of enemies. Which building had the others run for, again? The two story one. Had to be the two story one. She would just dash into it. By now they had probably taken out any ponies inside, and the outside ones would have to bottleneck to get in. It wasn’t safe, but it was her safest bet now that Cuppa had shoo’d her away.

From when Kira had entered the build to when Kestrel started to leave it she had just said quiet for a long time watching the big gryphon scare, torture, and finally kill the slaver in a brutal and painful method that just did not really sit well with the gryphoness even if she knew that if things would go in a certain way she would be exactly brutal in the same way.

Kira nodded and pulled out a Incendiary Grenade as she heard about the two ponies coming to the door, she did not dare to question Kes when he was in this mood instead she pulled out the pin of the grenade and casually rolled it out the door to meet the ponies with a bang.

(12 AP, roll a Incendiary Grenade over to the two ponies coming over to the house she and Kes is in.)

From his newfound perch atop the two story building, and seemingly out of enemy fire for the moment, Dash crept toward the edge of the building, nearest the slave pens. He exchanged his Marksmare Carbine for the Crossbow as his active weapon. If a pony stationed in the building below him heard a gunshot that didn't belong to their sniper, all they had to do was climb out and ambush him. That was assuming they didn't know already, which was something Dash didn't put a whole lot of stock in either.

Dash then peeked over the edge of the building down into the slave pens, before he could get going on a relatively selfish quest to find his brother amongst the slaves, a glitter of silver-grey movement caught his eye he aimed his crossbow at the two ponies, taking a little time to see if he could glean more about the two.

(4 AP, Switching to Crossbow. Perception 6, Sneak 74, trying to study the two ponies heading for the slave pens more closely. Perception 6, also keeping his ears on a swivel for anything on the roof besides him.)

Lightning couldn't help but let out an audible groan each time as the gun bucked back against him. He knew that he was going to need some medical attention later but right now, he had to help his friends. What was nice though was it appeared the battle was going their way. The stallion had already fired five shots now and he was now needing to replace his clip. Ejecting it, Lightning reached back into his bag and pulled out a new clip, slamming it into his gun and putting the same pony back in his sights. With a quick pull, he fired three more shots at him.

Dash watched as the silver-grey pegasus continued on her way towards the slave pen. Through the scope, it was hard to not be struck by how stunning she looked; her coat practically glimmered with each graceful step. And her eyes – her eyes were of the most striking cerulean he’d ever seen.

Suddenly, a grenade skidded along the ground in her direction. The slaves cried out in alarm, and the guard, armed with an automatic rifle and wearing sturdy armour, shoved the pegasus away and dove on it. It exploded. The guard was shielding his face, and his armour protected him from being instantly shredded, but he was alight, a thick gel adhering to his armour and exposed coat, causing him to scream in pain as he burned.

The pegasus mare gasped in horror as the guard that had been escorting her suddenly and gruesomely expired. She quickened her pace towards the slave pens, and with some graceful wing beats, flew over the bars and into the pen. As she landed, the slaves ran towards her, smiles on their faces; they began hugging and nuzzling and cheering her adoringly, and she warmly returned the affection.

With Bakewell gone and heading towards the compound proper, Cuppa was left to deal with the swordspony. She aimed her .45 pistol and fired… or tried to. The gun clicked, and the breech jammed. She used her magic to eject the shell, and the gun clicked normally. She fired twice, each round slamming into the buck, where, with a look of disbelief, he collapsed to the ground.

Bakewell was darting towards the two-storey building, heading towards the door, when in the corner of her vision, she noticed a figure had appeared in a window and was pointing a vicious scoped rifle at her. Jinking to the left, she heard a paf as a bullet hit the dirt where she would have been. She tried to dodge again, but the sniper was prepared, and first one, then a second bullet struck the mare as she burst through the door. She could feel her side screaming silently where the bullets had punched through her barding.

The room she entered had no familiar black griffon. It was a room with two rows of bunk beds down one end and a large table towards the far end. A group of 5 seemingly unarmed and unarmoured ponies huddled in the far corner, ears flat against their heads, shivering in terror. A staircase next to them led up to the next floor.

The guard that Lightning had been focusing on reloaded and swung his rifle towards Dash on the roof. He fired two bursts. But in a display of staggering alacrity, Dash darted up and sideways, avoiding each and every bullet, before setting himself back down on the roof.

Lightning continued to focus on his target; after reloading his rifle, he aimed at the same guard (A) again. The first shot missed, the second a solid hit in the guard’s shoulder. The third was perfect – he’d managed to stabilise the gun and lock in on his target with the previous two shots, and the third slammed into the place where the guard’s heart was. Whilst the guard was staggered and coughing blood, he was still standing, no doubt barely saved by his armour.

The remaining riflepony (C) reloaded his weapon and ran towards the slave pens. He slid to a stop next to the iron-shod guard, dropped into a ready stance, and pointed his gun at the open space of the compound.

Post by Cuppa Beans on Sun Dec 16, 2012 10:53 am

Cuppa was shocked for a moment as the .45 clicked, right now this was not what she needed, a gun jamming on her. But with a pull of the slide and a clearing of the chamber, she put two rounds into the slaver and watched him fall. The disbelief in his features made her dip down by his dying frame. "Ah'm sorry." Withdrawing her EZ-Gun, Cuppa gently held the barrel near his neck and administering a neatly-placed shot straight to his vein so his senses would dull and he wouldn't feel the pain any longer.

Raising once more, Cuppa spotted the slaves and the silvery pegasus, not to mention the still-burning pony dead by the smaller of the two buildings, he had a name, everypony did. Thinking back to the shouting she heard, and looking to that pegasus for a moment, a name came to mind, that blazing buck was Rocky Road, he'd gone to get the mare. Her name must've been Silver Mist.

But what was going on? Why was this mare, Silver Mist, so revered by the slaves? It was almost the exact opposite to Cuppa's experience with slavery. She had to get there before Kestrel did, he was too far into the black/white morality of slaves and slavers, he'd kill her before getting any sort of explanation.

So Cuppa took off in a sprint, going around as much of the fighting as possible, but skidded to a halt as she saw two guards there, one had a rifle and the other seemed to prefer to use their hooves, that must've been Whiplash, that pony was there since the start of the fight and they were protecting the slaves, like they were told to.

The only names she couldn't fathom were the ones for the buck she'd just shot and this rifle-toting buck here. And right now, the rifle pony and Whiplash were between her and Silver Mist, the mare she just had to talk to and see why the slaves adored her. Cuppa was like a deer in headlights as she almost longingly looked past Whiplash and the rifle pony.

"A-Ah jus'... Ah wanna talk t' Silver Mist! Ah dun' wanna hurt 'er, ah swear!" Cuppa blurted out as she was stuck in place, slowly holstering her .45 to try and show she wasn't really a threat, her horn held now glow either, just in case they'd seen her use that magic bolt earlier.

Bakewell realized she had the wrong building the moment she saw that things were alive and that absolutely nothing was dead. Every time she had traveled with Kestrel prior everything had died without exception, she couldn’t think of a single life the large griffon had ever spared.

She was hurting, though. Going back out just wasn’t an option with the long range shooter up atop the building. For the briefest of moments Bakewell considered trying to wipe the entire building to save the others time, but the thought was quickly replaced by confusion once she made out what exactly the living ponies were doing. She stopped at the doorway, needing to catch her breath anyway.

“Um. Hello?” She asked, shutting the door and bracing herself against it to try and keep any unwanted guards from shoving in uninvited. Were these slavers? No, Slavers were monsters and would have instantly attacked. Slavers didn’t know how to cower, only how to kill. These must be slaves given a temporary taste at freedom for the benefit of their masters.

“You guys realize that there’s some sort of group or something outside attacking, right?” The mare asked, trying to keep her voice friendly for the benefit of the shell-shocked slaves, while keeping her own intentions hidden to avoid scaring them further. “You might want to find a better hiding place. Or make a break for it. Or something.”

Kestrel waited to hear the agony and blaze caused by the incendiary grenade as the guard for the strange silver pony was torched and cooked quite quickly before he activated his stealth field and carefully spun and pointed his rifle out of the door at the field beyond.

Burning to death. Truly a nasty way to go. Kestrel didn't worry about that though, to caught up in his current blood-lust for such a tiny detail like that to matter. On that note he barely even noted Cuppa and Silver Mist's little chat next to him. Leaving the mare to do as she wished while he brought up his Hellsing and took aim at the two unfortunate victims he'd just chosen.

The Hellsing hissed as it spit out the first of two bolts, the shard of death and metal silently whizzing through the air towards the rifle-wielding pony that was trying to cover the little building that Kestrel and Kira were currently in.

If all went well he'd be finding a bolt of sharpened steel skewered through his heart in the blink of an eye.

Without waiting Kestrel took aim at the only other guard he could see, the Hoof-Fighter, and fired once. Again his rifle hissed as a bolt was sent flying his way, and again Kestrel had aimed for the chest.

After that? Kestrel began making his way forward, slowly, towards the two he'd just shot, the big griffon calling back towards Kira before he left earshot. "Stay here, guard the slaves."

(Guns 100 and stealth field activated to help throw off enemy aim. AP spent 32 the rest is for dodging, Firing at Rifle Pony C and The Hoof Fighter. Cuppa and Silver Mist not even recognized by Kes, lucky them.)

Dash huffed out a quick few breaths as he settled himself back down after dodging the bullets. He then quirked an eyebrow as the scene played out before his eyes. He even lowered his aim away from Silver Mist. Now, Dash hated slavers, but what was going on before him defied an immediate explanation. Whoever that was, the slaver guard and the slaves alike really cared for her. Dash wouldn't go so far as to immediately think that the slaver deserved a medal for what he did. The situation was, however, put on the back-burner for the moment as Dash decided to ensure the safety of his own friends.

Dash quickly got himself away from a position that the assailing guard could fire at him again and went to another side of the building. The Sniper was likely still down there in the building floor below him. Shooting through the roof was just a bad idea, because he wasn't guaranteed to hit anything nor even dissuade the sniper from taking up a position and firing again. Dash wanted to confirm his kill. He reloaded his crossbow.

He found the nearest open window and attempted to climb down the side of the building toward it, using his wings to stabilize him. He kept his crossbow at the ready, all the time. He kept ready to fire his crossbow if his target was down there.

(Reloading Crossbow, 2 AP. Sneak 74, Perception 6, Guns 100, 16 AP, entering the top floor of the 2-story building stealthily, firing his crossbow at the sniper if he's in the same room as his entry point. 23 AP left over for dodging and movement as necessary.)

Whiplash ignored Cuppa’s plea to talk to Silver, and raced towards her, tackling her so she wouldn’t be able to draw her pistol. Regaining his footing, he raised a power hoof, intending to start beating the unicorn. A smooth soft voice called out to him. “Stop, Whiplash! Don’t hurt her, she’s put her gun away. Let her come here and talk.”

Power hoof still raised over Cuppa’s head, Whiplash stopped and looked back at the silver pegasus. After a moment, he turned back to Cuppa; it looked as though Tartarus lay behind his eyes. “You lay so much as a single hoof on her, and even the might of Celestia herself won’t protect you from me.” He stepped back, allowing Cuppa to stand, but his withering gaze didn’t relent.

Silver Mist slowly walked towards the bars of the slave pen, granting warm smiles to the happy slaves as she did, pausing only a couple of steps from the bars to pick up a filly and place it on her back, much to the filly’s joy as she hugged Silver’s mane.

Her ears flicking at the sounds of gunfire, Silver paused and regarded Cuppa with a wilted look of grave concern. “Please, stop this senseless violence; you’re frightening us all terribly.” She looked over to where the rifle pony had burned to death. “Poor Rocky Road died protecting me.”

Kestrel fired at the two slavers only a few moments after they had let Cuppa past to talk to Silver. Each bolt struck its target, punching through the guards’ armour and immediately drawing their attention.

“Over there!” Whiplash yelled, pointing towards the doorway. “You gonna be okay, Silver?” he asked with a sideways glance.

“I’ll be fine,” she responded. “This unicorn seems perfectly reasonable.”

“Right,” he grunted. “Clover, cover me!” Whiplash ducked his head and with a snort, sprinted towards the door, his hooves ready to pound whatever they found.

Clover didn’t have an exact idea of where to fire, but he aimed and emptied half a magazine through the door. The barrage was an unfocused attempt to cover as much space as possible, but the sheer quantity of bullets made it impossible for Kestrel to avoid them all.

Whiplash dove towards the blurry, translucent griffon in the doorway and struck him with a headbutt, then spun on his forehooves, and there was a crack like thunder from his power hooves as both back hooves struck Kestrel in the head. He quickly followed it up with two more blows before jumping back.

Dash snuck quietly down the building and flipped through an open window. He was in a small room; there were empty lockers against one wall, and on the opposite side, some half empty gun racks. There seemed to be an absence of sniper here, but there was a closed door on the far side of the room.

The huddled ponies didn’t seem to respond well to Bakewell’s entrance; they mostly just tried to avoid even looking at the mare as they continued to huddle and looked fearfully in her direction.

“We’ll be fine,” one of them said, earning a cuff across the ear.

“Sshh! She’s one of them,” said a skinny teal unicorn stallion. The group seemed to huddle a bit closer together.

“You’re not going to kill us, are you?” a plump-looking mare said, her knees shaking in terror. “Please, I’m just a cook.” She earned a reproachful look from the skinny teal unicorn.

(Kes, I need rules on exactly how the active ability of the ghost armour works (as there are no rules for it). But I have no idea if this is how it should work, or not.)

Post by Cuppa Beans on Mon Dec 17, 2012 8:36 am

Upon being tackled, Cuppa threw her hooves up to protect her head as much as possible from the impending pummelling she was about to receive, the tackle winding her and making it that little bit more difficult to try and protect herself from Whiplash.

It was a gift from the Sisters Celestia and Luna themselves that she was saved at the last moment by the mare, Silver Mist, who seemed to understand Cuppa's attempt at something a bit more peaceful that violence... Something others seemed to forget about when encountered by certain people.

Bringing herself back up to her hooves and passing by the two guards, Cuppa stood right at the fence of the pens before Kestrel emerged and put a bolt into both of them, drawing their attention. At that point, Cuppa's ears drooped and she frowned. "Ah'm sorry, but ah can't stop 'em from fightin', especially not 'im." Cuppa gestured towards where Kestrel was fighting with the guards. "Ah'm more or less jus' 'ere t' keep 'em alive. An' ah'm sorry 'bout Rocky Road, tha' was a bad way t' go."

The mare had to out with why she wanted to talk to Silver Mist. "But... Ah dun understand this. In all mah days ah've never seen summint like this when ah've seen slaves... They love ya an' all ah wanna know is why tha' is." Cuppa probably had a look on her face that only told a little about her past experience with slavers, all of it negative. She probably even seemed envious of these slaves.

Silver looked towards Kestrel and frowned. “He certainly seems relentless. How sad, if unsurprising.”

“Rocky loved to travel,” she said sadly, looking sadly towards the heap of smoking pony. “He was always first to volunteer for scouting missions. I didn’t see him often, but when I did, he always had a story to tell about something he’d found in the wasteland.”

“Why is it surprising that they love me? I give them medicine and care when they’re hurt. I protect them from the elements and beasts of the wasteland. I give the children love and affection when they have no parents to care for them.” She turned her head to nuzzle the filly on her back. “I help provide them with food for their bellies. I talk with them to help them overcome their fears and nightmares. Old or young, beaten or weary, they all need love and care, so I do what I can for them, and they do what they can for me.”

She turned to the slaves huddled around her, and they all clamoured for her affection. She hugged and nuzzled a few. “I give them safety and love. What more reason do they need to love me in return?” She turned back to Cuppa with an expression that was almost, but not quite angry. “A better question, I think, is what reason your group could have to come here and so senselessly endanger their lives and well-being. What did they ever do to you?”

Kira was sitting in the door way of the now, what she knew of, empty building just sitting there looking at the newly burnt remains of what once was a pony. She had not planned to use an incendiary grenade she was going to use a frag, but now the pony had not die instantly from an explosion but instead burned honorific to death after a small blast that only wounded him.

The fighting around the gryphoness had almost melted away for her as she slow walked out of the doorway keeping her eyes on the corps of what was left of Rocky Road. She felt no need to fight any longer. She looked around seeing the slave guards fighting for what they thought was right and she looked at the other who was doing the same and she was not in the middle of it questioning what she was doing there.

Kira looked over to the slave pen talking to he sliver coated pegasus mare that had been with the slaver that she had just killed. It was surprising to see a pegasus outside of stableton but more surprising was how the slaves seemed to care for her. She started to walked slowly over to the pens to do what she remotely rememberer what Kestrel had told her and this was what seemed to be the best thing to do in her mind, to keep them safe and maybe even be able to set them free.

Something was wrong with this picture. Slavers shouldn’t be cowering in the corner like this. They should be fighting, kicking, screaming, and cursing. These were the absolute worst slavers Bakewell had ever seen, half of them weren’t even armed!

“I won’t lay a hoof on you unless you make me.” The mare finally gave in, feeling disgusted by the fact that she was talking to slavers. But she just couldn’t make herself do it, she couldn’t attack a bunch of defenseless ponies unprovoked.

“You guys have been enslaving caravans important to Stableton. It’s killing the capflow the town needs to survive.” She finally explained, as though using the words as a defense. “There's a bounty for killing every single one of you, including you, cook. I might not collect, but somepony else will even if it’s not today.”

Bakewell stayed against the door and stared at the group, judging their reactions

“Also. Do any of you know who this pony is?” She added, pulling out the photo she had received from Stableton earlier and showing is to the group, careful to keep the message hidden. If the pony in the photo was a slaver, one of these ponies would probably know him. Whether or not they told the truth was another matter entirely.

Post by Kestrel on Mon Dec 17, 2012 12:08 pm

Kestrel hissed and grunted as he felt the pneumatic/hydraulic assisted hooves slam into him; feeling te bones of his war hardend form creaking a bit as they took te blow in stride. Damn, that had actually hurt a bit. The bullets from before had been nasty, but they had been nothing compared to the powerhooves.

Now, in the wasteland, or even life at large there existed certain rights. The right to free speech, the right to choose ones own religion, the right to bear arms, and the right to life for example. The stallion, Whiplash if Kestrel heard righht, had just forfeited two of tese rights. Had Kestrel been more in control of himself he might have shown mercy, or perhaps he would have refrained from doing what he did next.

Dropping his Hellsing Kestrel rushed forward towards his prey, drawing his blade once more. Three slashes delivered with brutal fury, one to the neck and the others to the legs. Even through the pain and fog of his current Kestrel knew just what to do, he aimed for first a possibly lethal zone, followed shortly afterwords by his main target. The blade, fully capable of tearing through armor, had been aimed at the stallions forelegs/knees; both legs having been targeted.

There was a sick sort of irony to be found in the act. The right to life and to bear arms had, hopefully, been stripped away with a few well placed strikes. A lethal, literal, disarming.

Normally this would have been enough for Kes. He'd have backed off and waited for a chance to counter. But unfortunately he didn't, no. As if to assure himself of his attacks lethality Kestrel used his freehand to reach out and grab the bolt still embedded into the pony's chest. Should he be able to grab the bolt successfully, the griffon would again activate the enchantments on his talons, letting the electricity run down the bolt of steel and finish off what his blade had begun.

(Melee 86, Unarmed 75, aiming to strike the Hoof fighters neck then his forelegs; hoping to cut them off 'disarming' the buck. Then reaching out to try grabbing the bolt inside the pony and using it as a means to help electrocute him quickly. As for the mechnics of the cloak, it was more aesthetic if I recall Ben's original idea. Your current idea works better however, so use whichever is eaisest on you. )

Post by Cuppa Beans on Mon Dec 17, 2012 1:59 pm

Cuppa gave a solemn nod at the comment about Rocky Road. "Makes me think o' muh Pa." She then added sadly.

Listening to Silver Mist explaining why the slaves adored her. Cuppa felt envy and anger bubbling deep inside her. How could these slaves be so lucky to get a nice slaver like Silver Mist? Why did Cuppa have to get the small nightmare she called her personal experience with slavers.

“A better question, I think, is what reason your group could have to come here and so senselessly endanger their lives and well-being. What did they ever do to you?”
The retaliation made Cuppa balk momentarily, ears down once more before she formed a response. "Ah'm not responsible fer th' actions o' th' others, ah'm only here to keep 'em alive whilst they do what they're gettin' paid t' do. Which, ah'll add, is dealin' with th' slavers that've been attackin' caravans headin' int' Stableton."

"Ah dun understand why these slaves are lucky 'nuff t' get such a nice pony t' look after 'em when some get abused and broken. Ah know ya ain't all doin' it fer the same reasons, an' that ya really care fer these slaves. But other slavers ain't givin' ya a good impression fer the rest o' the wasteland." Cuppa verbally lashed back to begin with before her tone softened.
"Whatever yer reason fer becomin' a slaver, why dun ya quit now? Take th' collars offa th' slaves, we can all go t' Stableton an' ya can do good there by lookin' after these ponies." She then said with a gesture towards the slaves. "Ah'd really recommend it. Ya'd still get to be wi' all these ponies too. Ah'm in no way good at judgin' a pony, but if ah were in yer place, ah'd try an' do better. Ah'm sorry t' say that yer friends here, like Rocky Road, ain't gonna make it, not wi' 'im 'round. But please think 'bout givin' up on slavin', ya could run a care-home or summint, ya'd never have to lose any o' these ponies ya've been carin' for." Cuppa paused a moment, trying to gauge Silver's reaction to everything she said.

"Yer a good pony fer lookin' after these slaves like ya have. Ya could do even more, ah swear, ah'll help ya get a fresh start any way ah can."

Lightning frowned as he watched the pony he fired at actually survive his barrage, though just barely. From what he could see, the battle was actually going really well but they had to end it soon or else they will get ripped apart. He decided that it was best to get rid of the last two gun-wielding ponies now. So putting his crosshairs over one, he fired before firing at the other. After that, he ejected his clip, reloaded once more, then fired again.

Dash continued over to the Gun rack, inspecting the weapons still there. From them he could perhaps gauge what kind of firepower these ponies were toting and why. Perhaps he would spirit away a few of the most valuable of the weapons he found. All was fair in the love and the Wasteland, after all... Not that Dash really believed in applying that in every situation, though. He was still under the now under-siege impression that these were slavers, however.

After inspecting the weapon racks, Dash slowly made his way to the door, keeping his Crossbow pointed forward. As he reached the door he reached out with a hoof and tested the door latch to see if it was locked or not. Being very slow and careful with his movements to cause as little noise as possible.

“A bounty?” Teal snorted, sounding insulted. “Who in Equestria would do such a thing? We’re practically in the middle of nowhere, here.” When Bakewell mentioned that other groups might seek out the bounty, the others all exchanged nervous glances.

As Bakewell held out the photograph, the cook, knees shaking so violently it was a miracle that she could walk, crept ever so slowly towards Bakewell to get a better look. “He’s in the slave pens,” she said, and shuffled back towards the group.

Dash searched through the racks and found most of the weaponry to be cheap or in a poor state of repair. However, he did find a pair of cowpony repeaters in serviceable condition, so he grabbed them.

He tested the door and found it to be unlocked. Peering through, he found a small landing in the next room; a set of stairs ended here, and across the other side was another shut door. There didn’t seem to be anypony in this room.

Flash readjusted his aim on the nearly dead rifle pony he’d been repeatedly shooting for the past several moments, who promptly ran and took cover behind the two-storey building before he could get another shot off. Well, there was always the one by the slave pen. He swung his scope over and acquired his new target, firing off two shots, both striking the pony in the side. He switched to a fresh mag and fired off one more shot; the rifle pony staggered and fell to the ground, but he still had enough life in him to scan the area for the source of the sniper fire.

Kira crept over to the slave pens, managing to avoid notice thanks to the guards being extremely distracted by the much larger griffon behind her. She got close enough to hear what the silver pegasus was saying to Cuppa.

“You want us to leave our home and move to a town known for its ardent hatred of slavers, because if we don’t, you’ll collect the bounty on our heads?” She looked over at Kestrel as he cut Whiplash to pieces. “I can’t bring myself to speak with you any further while your raiders are slaughtering my friends.” Her voice was quavering, tears streaming down her face. “Please, call them off. I don’t want to call Mad Komodo, but I will if I have to.”

Kes didn’t get a moment to enjoy his kill as a roar of gunfire from the second storey announced the presence of the sniper. The first round punched through his armour, adding another bullet wound to growing collection. Another round thudded into the nearby building and a third also struck him. He was beginning to bleed quite badly.

“Thank you.” Bakewell whispered gently to the cook after she had helpfully crept forwards. That would be something to deal with later. Talking to him might be risky, but based off of what resistance these slavers had offered so far, Bakewell really wasn’t that worried about their resistance.

“…Like I said. You’ve been hitting caravans that are important to the town.” She repeated, hopefully answering Teal’s question.

“Look, it’s fine. You don’t have to be scared of me. But can I ask why? Why slavers? Was there really no other way for you to live? You had to do so by capturing others? I mean, well, I only know the cook’s profession, really. But there are cooks everywhere. Hay, I’m a cook!” She pressed, feeling dirty for socializing with what she considered to be the lowest of ponies. Too low to even really be ponies. But what else was she supposed to do? Murder a bunch of scared unarmed equines in their own home? Never! Though that did bring up a question.

“Also, there’s a house not far from here. Rather fresh tracks leading to and from it, originating and re-ending here. Whoever lived there was slaughtered.” The mare mentioned, scrunching her nose in remembrance of the horrible smell. “That’s not normal slaver activity, is it? What do you all know about that?”

Dash continued into the room, and heard three more distinct .308 shots. Dash knew that time was of the essence now more than ever. He crept toward the closed door. He didn't bother testing it this time and attempted to push it open. Quietly, however. He still wanted to get the drop on this guy.

If he managed to get through the door, Dash would then shoot the first adult pony he saw with a rifle. If he wasn't able to, he would abandoned stealth for the sake of his friends, turn around and buck the door as hard as he could, attempting to draw the attention of any inside the room beyond or preferably, knock down the door.

If A happens: (Sneak 74, Perception 6, Agility 9, Guns 100, going into the room and shooting anypony that has a rifle.)

If B happens: (Strength 6, bucking the door as hard as he can.)

Re: Slaving Away (Group 1) [Closed] [Finished]

Post by Cuppa Beans on Tue Dec 18, 2012 12:34 pm

Cuppa could've gotten mad as this mare decided to block her out until the others had stopped, she most definitely could've gotten mad at Silver for what Cuppa felt was so blindly continuing to take one of the most dangerous paths she could right now. But no, that wouldn't help at all, not if Cuppa wanted to try and get the best thing for these slaves, as they would hate seeing the mare who's cared for them so much killed just because she was a slaver.

She'd have to do something if she wanted that mare to not be mauled by a certain griffon and live on to do good. "Ah was jus' thinkin' 'bout them, Silver, think 'bout how would they feel if ya got yerself killed 'ere. Ah'll try an' get 'em t' stop." Cuppa said as a final note to the conversation for now before making her horn light up with a simple light spell to try and draw attention to herself from both the sniper and Flash.

Briefly moving over to where Kestrel was, Cuppa could see that the griffon was in worse condition than when he arrived.

"Kestrel, get inside, please. Ya're wounded an' anymore damage might kill ya." Cuppa could only hope the griffon would stand down for now, she doubted it, but she could hope he'd stop. Turning her head towards the Kira. "Please could ya try an' make sure Kes don't do nuthin'?"

"Bake! Dash! Hold up a minute! We gots a lil' situation out 'ere!" Cuppa called out loudly towards the building she'd seen both Dash fly to and Bake enter but moments ago. "An' ya should lay still fer now, movin' ain't gonna help yer bleedin'." The brown unicorn directed her attention towards the guard left standing, metaphorically, but he was lucky Kes hadn't caused his demise yet. "An' Mister or Miss Sniper-pony, please hold yer fire so that everypony can calm down."

Now, if everyone had stopped shooting and trying to kill one another, Cuppa would finally look back over to Silver Mist... And hope that both the mare would be a bit more talkative and that no one would get back to fighting just because she turned away to focus on Silver again.

...Sure, some of the others might not end up having a high opinion of her for trying this, but she was really just trying to do what could potentially be the best for the slaves in the pen.

Kestrel grunted as he felt a few more rounds slam into him. He could feel the hot stickiness of his own blood against his skin, his vision blurring for a moment. The memory fueled berserk-state was fading, and the pain was starting to trickle in. He could feel the ache of rendered flesh and bullet wounds, the sharp thrumming of aching bone, and out of his right ear he could hear Cuppa talking behind him; talking. Why was she talking she should be healing the others and killing slavers? Was she trying to calm the slaves?

As she mentioned going inside and standing down the griffon actually snarled at her. It was a feral terrifying sound, truly. Like hell he was going to stand down. There were slavers to kill, a mission to complete.

    ...

She had a point though. Looking down at himself he could see needed to get patched up. He was no use to this team dead; moreover he was worthless to his father. His father...what would he think if kestrel died here? It was this thought that caused kestrel to conceded to at least one of cuppas points.

Moving sluggishly at first Kes began to shift. He waited till Cuppa walked past before he swung his blade one last time, its edge aimed for the last slaver he could see's neck. He was not going to let the fool suffer until death, Kestrel didn't leave jobs half finished.

He then began moving towards the building as fast as he could, sheathing his sword and grabbing his Hellsing along the way, aiming to get inside. Once he was there he'd sit himself down and rest, holding Hellsing close; He'd collect his spent bolts later.

The griffon took slow easy breaths as he waited for the team medic after that. She'd best be quick, there were still things to do.

(Melee 86, AGL 7, if you really need it, finishing off Rifle Pony C then getting back inside the door and taking cover with my Hellsing out.)
