"Hmm...getting a plant...seems easy enough...but knowing the wastelands, Im absolutely sure it'll find a way to screw us over." Scrap grumbled under his breath after Zestari finished explaining what they would be doing. He entered the coordinates on his pipbuck. "Well I'm all set then, don't got any questions. Say hi to Bakewell for me." Turning to the other members of the group he asked "Any if you need to get anything or can we start out?"

After listening to the Zebra, he nodded, and seen her hand the light blue mare a small amount of healing supplies. Blazen checked out his saddlebags, and everything checked out. He had a nice supply of ammo, one single 9mm, and his unrepaired revolver. "Alright, i seem to be ready. As ready as i can get, anyhow."

Winter Bell didn't need to check her supplies to know she was all set and ready to go. She turned to the one called Scrap and nodded, "I'm all set" she said with a confident smile. She didn't know what to expect in truth, but she was confident with these other ponies around they could get this herb without too much of a problem at all.

Sky heard the objective they had to do, go to a swamp. And get a plant, easy enough to get. Unless the creatures Zestari mentioned are only as deadily as raider or worse, Sky didnt care this will probably be a short mission for all she knew. Sky got the coordinates incorporated into her pipbuck, also marking down other locations on the map, which wasn't much. "Well I'm ready." Sky announced to Zestari. And the group.

Lightning listened closely to the instructions, nodding his head gently as the zebra spoke. "A plant, eh? Shouldn't be much trouble." The pegasus quickly programmed the coordinates into his Pipbuck and watched as the marker popped up on his map. "Alright, that should do it." He would look at his bag filled with ammo, water, and a little food. Plus his two weapons hanging from holsters on his flanks, "I'm ready. Everypony else ready to move now?"

Blazen forgot to put in the coordinates of the map in his pipbuck. He put it in and also grabbed his tin from his Saddle-bag, taking a half-cut Mint-al. "Im trying to get off it." He said to everyone in a ashamed voice, and he walked out the door, waiting for anypony else. He wasn't the leader of this group, but he wondered who would be. He needed to sort this whole thing out, or the group wouldn't have much order.

Seeing Blazen take out the tin of mint-als reminded Scrap if something. He walked over towards Zestari and asked in a hushed tone "Do you possibly have any more of those relaxant leaf things that you gave me on our last expedition? The ponies that know me understand that I'm not the most mentally stable but I dont want to scare any of those who don't by ending up having a breakdown..."

Atriark smiled when Zestari winked at him. At least he was on her good side.

As Zestari explained the task, the plant and what dangers they could expect and may encounter, Atriark couldn't shake the feeling that he should know more than that what she was preparing was dangerous if made wrong. That was the down side to where Atriark grew up and lived for most of his life. Being next to the zebra mare, Atriark felt less like a zebra and more like a thin, small framed, earth pony. It was appearant that her knowledge surpassed his in every way. Things that he should have learned, he didn't because he was a stable zebra.

When Zestari finished, Atriak nodded. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Let's get this started." He turned to speak with the zebra mare. "Ma'am, as you spoke, I couldn't help feeling that I should know this, but I do not. I guess that is a curse of growing up on a stable. I hesitate to ask this, but when We return, would you mind teaching me what I lack?" It was a long shot, but how else was he to learn? There was no pony he knew that could teach him what his up bringing failed to.

Cross just listened and payed close attention to the maps, as quickly as he registered the location on his pipbuck, still he noticed how horribly, horribly green these ponies were, and he couldn't help but not say anything.

"While I owe you Zestari, I'm skeptical of traveling with ponies who haven't even bothered to ask the payment.....still I'll be glad to help...help them out, I promise I'll take of the them." Cross curled his hoof, and gave out a stern expression, he really hoped he could prove to Zestari that he changed. Really deep down, he hadn't changed, he still believed in himself, but at least now he could have others....maybe do so as well

Watching with aghast surprise as Blazen imbibed a Mintal and trotted off outside. She grumbled, turned and rummaged in another crate pulling out a slightly crushed green packet emblazoned with the word 'Fixer' Passing the packet over to Winter she gave a fierce look towards Blazen's back. "This comes out of his reward."

With a tap on her shoulder she turned towards Scrap Parts, "Relaxant Leaves?!" She looked puzzled before making an 'Ahh' sound and chuckling slightly. "Yes. I have a few more here, somewhere." She gave a reassuring pat and nod as he confessed his nervous disposition before going over and rummaging through some stashed saddlebags. Pulling out a few leaves she brought them back to Scrap and passed them over.

She smiled at Atriark as he addressed her, before raising an eyebrow. "You were raised in the horror stable, like the others in Stableton? Interesting." She looked him over again as though that information would change something in his appearance. Maybe that's why he seemed light. "I would be more than happy to meet with you again when you return. What is it that you believe you lack that I am able to teach you?"

"Oh there is a reward," she laughed nervously, "It's in there." She pointed her hoof at a locked metal box resting on a shelf at the opposite end of the room. Her nervous-cheerful disposition changed as Cross made a surprisingly heartfelt pledge to help and guide the group. She tilted her head towards him. Such an acceptance of responsibility seemed unlike the Cross she knew and in response to it, she closed her eyes and bowed her head towards the unicorn and said in a slow voice filled with respect.

"Thank you, Cross, such words coming from you means a great deal to me."

Atriak's ears perked up, was she serious? He didn't expect her to accept. He actually thought she would laugh at his upbringing and tell him that she didn't have the time to waste on a stable zebra. He was excited and a little shameful that he had judged the good looking zebra mare with the wondrous violet eyes without knowing her better.

"Yes ma'am, I did grow up there. The stable was my home," Atriark said, no longer caring who from 113 remembered him. "Living in the stable, all I could learn about alchemy si what I read fro books and the small amounts of herbs that my mother had. I lack a lot of knowledge that a zebra should know. I would be honored if you could teach me what I should know."

Winter took the Fixer and put it in her saddlebag with the rest of the medical equipment. She sighed to herself. She hated treating this mostly because the ponies taking the drug would get all defensive and uncooperative when she tried to help them. But she had a job to do and she would do it regardless. She saw that some of the other ponies had started to leave so decided to make her way outside. She didn't bother asking about the reward since there wasn't really any point. It was all conditional on surviving and finding the herb anyway, so was happy with finding out upon their return. Winter Bell stepped out into the dry air of the Equestrian Wasteland and took a deep breath.

Lightning watched as the others continued to ask for items and other things they needed for the journey. He knew that these ponies...didn't have alot of experience in the wastelands. Then again, neither does he. But he did feel he learned a little from his journeys in the past. He would look toward Cross as he gave his "pledge" to help the group and make sure to "take care of them". Lightning rolled his eyes a little at that. But the way the stallion said it put in just a little doubt in his mind. Maybe Cross has changed...or maybe he's trying to deceive them again. Only time would tell.

Scrap accepted the leaves with a small nod and a thanks. Even though the trip wasn't supposed to be crazy, he didn't want to take any chances with the undamaged portions of his psyche.

"Ok, now I'm ready to go."

Cross gazed at the others, to some degree....he was a bit worried, Blazen the junkie had once smashed the fruity zebra over the head with a bar chair....their would probably be some problems with those two....Still at least he had Scrap and WInter, he knew he could rely on those two.

Cross stuck out his hooves into the ground and stood tall, he wanted to make sure they felt they could trust him.

The only other ponies he ever lead were slavers....and that was just to lead them to ruin. But still what could possibly go wrong? they're just going for some silly little plant.....right?

"Alright ponies make sure you stick close, and lets get this done right, Flash and Sky, you guys take to the air and recon the area ahead of us every 30 mins, and Winter since you're the only one fully medical trained I suggest you try to stay behind me anytime something goes wrong I can throw up a shield...I'll take point, it'll be easier to protect you all if we're close together behind a shield....what do you think Zestari?...we best might as well get started since we're burning daylight"

Zestari escorted the ponies to the door as they exited. Pausing to stand in the doorway and she waved them away.

"Certainly Cross, seize the day while it is still young!" She was pleased by the initiative he seemed to be showing, hoping that the leadership - wanted or not - would help guide the group to success.

"Thank you, all of you. I promise the reward will be worthwhile when you return." She wore a broad smile. As they walked out of sight down the dusty streets of Stableton, she shut the door and returned to the back room to continue her alchemy.

The group were nearing the edge of town when Lightning suddenly remembered he needed to get something and that he'd catch up with the group in a few minutes. Taking flight He shot off towards the centre of town leaving the rest of the group slightly confused and they carried on.

About to exit the gate a dark green stallion wearing high-quality combat barding and a wide-brimmed black fedora intercepted the group.

There was a toothpick tucked in the side of his mouth and with a slight drawl to his accent, said, "If ya don't mind, could I grab a moment of you ponies time?" He didn't wait for approval before continuing.

"The walls are thin 'round these parts and I couldn't help but overhear that zebra asking you to fetch a certain somethin' from the wasteland for her." He paused to gauge the groups reaction, "The name's Broccoli Floret." he said tugging the fedora down shading his eyes even more.

"Y'all best be careful gettin' those seeds for that zebra. Breath o' Night is one heck of'a substance." He rolled the toothpick from one side of his mouth to the other before continuing, "Ev'r read of settlement called Sunnyglen? Durin' the war a zebra snuck a few drops of Breath o' Night into the bakery's flour. By tha time the town was cured of tha induced madness, a third of the population were dead and barely a building was left standin'." His eyes passed slowly over each pony, his mouth thin and curved very slightly into a frown.

"Now, I don't pretend to know why that zebra would tryin' ta make more, and I didn't hear you folk ask her, but I'd be real careful once you get those seeds. Ya understand me?"

Lightning re-joined the group at this point. He silently landed at the back of the group, a rifle that he didn't have previously tucked alongside him, a confused look on his face.

Broccoli stepped back from the group, "If'n you don't like the idea of givin' the seeds to the zebra, y'all can find me at the tavern."

[i]no way Zestari would do that, would she? nah just trying to scare us, wont work.[i] "hey flash lets head out, the more we wait the longer it takes us to get there." Sky said to flash, as she unfurled her wing and took to the Sky. hovering above the group, to wait for flash.

Lightning couldn't say that he was totally happy that Cross began to take the lead but for the sake of the group, he would say to him, "Understood. Shouldn't be a problem." As each pony left the shack and began their journey, Lightning decided at the last minute that it was time for him to pick up some more weaponry for himself. "You know what, I'll be right back."

The pegasus took off into the air and made his way to the armory as fast as he could. Walking inside, he would purchase a nice hunting rifle equipped with a scope and a box of ammunition for the weapon. Tucking it on his back, Lightning quickly took off again and returned back to the group, seeing a worried-looking pony talking to them. When he came in for a landing, all he heard was something about being careful about the seeds and turning the herb over to him. 'Now that's strange...' he thought. Looking over at Sky, he would say to her, "Alright. Let's go." He would flap his wings and take back off into the sky, nodding at her and moving to fly off in the direction they were headed.

Well, that was, uh, handled. An apparent traitor to Stableton taking the lead of a group of few, then suddenly deciding that 'hey i should be the crown king of the wasteland'. Although the pony did defend a mare, that was only one action. He wasn't sure he could trust this guy yet, at all in fact. Although the others might be so trusting, Blazen wasn't. Except a few other special cases anyways. He walked at the back of the group, trying to avoid any amount of conversation. Most ponies would scrutinize him for his drug taking, but hes slowing it down and, slowly, but surely, he has been dropping drug consumption. He's been cutting down the tablets, one week and he'll cut a small part off of it. He was nearing the end of the tin, and he barely had enough caps to purchase another tin. Those were pretty expensive.

The group were nearing the edge of town and such until one of their party members had to get something, and then a odd pony approached them. He listened to what he was saying, and when everyone put in their input (and Winter said 'ill be sure to remember that), he commented. "I dont know if its just me, but that pony has something wrong about him. I trust her," he said, looking to the shack in the distance. "more then him." He said, and looked to the rest. "And no offense, but who put you in charge all of a sudden?" He said to Cross.

Scrap brushed of the odd ponys warnings, he was sure that even if Zestari was going to make something bad out of what they were going to get then she had a good reason to do so.

He headed towards Cross, who had assumed the leader role-which Scrap was okay with, mainly because Cross said he'd take point- and asked "Anything specific you want me to do sir?"

Atriark didn't feel welcome in the party. The truth was, he felt ignored and barely tolerated. It didn't help that he probably alienated three of them when they met in the bar earlier. As they headed out of the town. Atriark kept to himself, wanting to be in the back and out of sight. Though he also didn't want to butt heads with Cross, so he just stayed where he was told and kept walking silently.

Atriark didn't mind silence and anonamity, he just couldn't shake the feeling of unwelcomness. It wasn't uncomon for a zebra to be ignored, most ponies still blamed them for a war long since ended. I really need to stop drinking.

He listened to the pony they encountered near the exit of the town. Does he speak true? What if he does? Would Zestari lie? What is she planing? He elected to remain silent until the pony was out of ear shot. "We were given a job to do. I don't like to go back on my word. Let's get this job done." Atriark said and pushed his way forward.

Some pony had come up the group and told them not to give the item to Zestari, but Cross tried to indicate to the group just to pass it off, they accepted the deal and he trusted Zestari. When he accepted a goal, he achieved that goal, thats how things got done

The jury-rigged group of assorted ponies were beginning their march toward their destination, but really soon after the ponies had reached a steady pace. The dreg junkie had come up to him and for some horribly obscure reason, decided to challenge him in front of the others? This was just too horribly amusing that Cross had to let out a slight chuckle.

"...And no offense, but who put you in charge all of a sudden?"

Cross just tilted his head and gave the Brown colt a curious look. and raised his hood off his head, Cross wanted him to get a good look while he spoke.

"I'm in charge because I've met nearly everypony here, they trust me, they believe in what I can do for them...you....you've been popping mentats like candy every 5 minutes. You're insecure, your a paranoid dreg because you're suffering from withdrawal because you haven't gotten your fix" Cross pulled his hood back on and turned back towards the road.

"If any of you doubt me, let me know and I'll leave....like I said, I'm just here to look out you, I could be doing much better jobs with much better pay but no, I choose this" Cross couldn't see them, but he knew of their presence, just listening to him speak...it would be best to get this out of the way now, he was getting tired of being doubted all the time, it brought up old memories of the life he spent alone...

Broccoli snorted when his words of caution seemed so poorly received."Suit ya selves, then." He played with his hat and replaced it on his head. "Once again, if you're not convinced to give the seeds to the zebra, then come see me at tha tavern." With that he walked off into town.

With Cross' ushering, the group moved on quickly, and was able to follow one of the roads out of Stableton, heading north. They passed the time with idle conversation until the sun was, as much as they could guess through the cloud cover, high in the sky above their heads. The group then turned east into the scrubby, dry, rolling hills of wasteland, using the pipbucks to help guide their way towards their destination.

The group soon came to a small spring where the slow trickle of water flowing from it barely registered a radioactive click when they held their pipbucks near to it. The area was a nice flat clearing, and it seemed a good spot to rest, eat, and relax for a time before moving on.

While the group rejuvenated from the walk so far. They discovered a small, rusty and slightly dented metal crate carefully tucked mostly out of sight under a nearby bush. After Scrap freed up the jammed hinges by utilising some clever handiwork, the crate was opened to reveal a few items:

    • A suit of high quality Reinforced Leather Barding
    • A 10mm pistol and a couple of magazines
    • A 9mm SMG. There are a few rounds rolling around the bottom of the box, fortunately it used the same ammo as the 9mm pistol.
    • 2 fragmentation grenades.
    • An undamaged syringe of Med-X.

The group was making excellent time and hadn't even run into of the dangerous wildlife they'd been warned about so far.

((Note: Gear will distributed via a 'dibs' system, but please be sensible and give items to the players you believe will most benefit from it. Remember: You got to share. You got to care. It's the right thing to do! If we have issues, then I'll assign the group leader as loot master. Oh yeah, and if you miss out now, don't worry, there will be more opportunities for loot!

    Also, action is close, ponies!))
