The green light of the terminal continued to blink ominously as the party snatched up the loot.

Kestrel cast his keen eyes over the door. It appeared to be a simple wooden door with no obvious cables attached to it, nor any cleverly disguised (or poorly disguised) traps.

As he slowly pushed the door open, there was a quiet hum from the opposite side and with a degree of aged fatigue the fluorescent lights began to flicker on. Peeking his head around the corner of the door, he could see the grey of the opposite wall, three coloured lines trailing along the wall and down the corridor.

Maintaining his cautious demeanor Kestrel slid the door open all the way and took a few tentative steps into the hallway beyond. Again, the colors were lifeless, cold. Aside from the lines that seemed to lead down the halls length.

If Kes had to guess they were guidelines, leading to certain parts of the building or some such. He walked up and gave them a closer study just to see if his guess was correct before turning away and getting the others attention with a sharp whistle.'

    Time to move.

Kestrel cautiously stepped into the hallway, which turned out to be relatively short, perhaps only 40 feet in length. As he looked at the painted lines, he could read three words written in block writing: the red line leading to the right was labeled ‘ADMIN’, the yellow line leading left read ‘MAINTENANCE’, and the blue line, also leading left, read ‘STORAGE’. Day Dream followed closely behind.

As they turned away from the written markers, a crackle came from above, and a tinny voice filled the corridor. “Oooh, new ponies! I don’t know you, do I? You need to sign in with administration. I’ll inform the staff.”

A loud thud came from the lobby behind them.

Kestrel stopped and narrowed his gaze at the sound of something slamming about behind him. No doubt that would be the door. No doubt that it has just slammed and locked, so as to trap the team inside the building.

And no doubt that the voice on the radio/intercom system was either a crazy pony or a surviving security system.

    'Great...'
Kes thought to himself with a mental frown. This could only end well.

Pendant's ears flicked at the sound of the passageway's door slamming shut abruptly, and whipped her head up to look to see if she was right. Kestrel and Day Dream had already gone through...!

She went over to the metal hatch-door and knocked with one hoof softly, putting her ear to it.

"Are you two there?" she asked, though she knew her voice would be muffled.

Heard the muffled voice of his fellow teammate and walked over towards the door, giving it a hard knock in return. He was never one for words, and the knock would do just fine.

Next the gryphon reached down and attempted to open the door again. It was probably pointless, but there was little harm in trying.

As Pendant checked on the two unfortunates locked into the passageway, Rough Sketch had a thought hit him. He moved quickly to the terminal on the secretary desk, giving the screen a tap to see if it was still functional.

Perhaps he could open the door from here.

[If computer terminal is functional, attempt to open the door with a check of Science 30. If door cannot be opened, or there is no option to open it, search for building maps or schematics.]

Pendant nodded to herself as she heard Kestrel's knock. She turned to see Sketch working on the terminal.

    "Any luck?" she inquired.

Though he didn’t have much experience at this sort of thing, Rough Sketch was almost disappointed in how easily he’d bypassed the terminal’s authentication. The password was “chips”.

Nothing immediately sprang to his attention regarding the door. He quickly perused the logs, hoping for some helpful information.

Early this morning, Agents Sunshine and Meadowlark brought in [data expunged] for emergency containment in [data expunged]. I notified Gold Spark, and she practically dropped everything to oversee the containment.

No evidence was found regarding its origin, but the prevailing theory is [data expunged]. I’d believe it. Aside from the obvious reasons, something that creepy and unnatural looking could only be the product of [data expunged].

I don’t want to think about what kind of damage that thing could do if [data expunged]. It’s a good thing we found it before it came in contact with any civilians.

All new arrivals are to sign in at maintenance, not administration as previously mentioned. Direct order from [data expunged]. Don’t ask.

He stared at the last option for a few moments, the green terminal light highlighting his puzzled expression. ‘null’. Before he could decide whether or not to investigate, his train of thought was interrupted by the sound of quietly squealing metal.

Kestrel turned the door handle, and to his mild relief, it opened without issue.

It occurred to at least one of them that the now reopened wooden door was far from bulky enough to make the kind of deep, resounding noise they’d heard a few moments earlier. A second cursory look around revealed the actual source of the loud thud: the huge metal front doors they’d hacked their way past a couple of minutes earlier had sealed shut behind them.

Kestrel said nothing as he surveyed the door. His guess had been right, though which door it was that had locked had not been. Ah well, can't win them all.

"We need to move." Kestrel suggested, turning about and walking forwards towards the door he had just come in from. His destination? Administration. The gryphon was pretty sure that the team could not get out the way they came, so why not move on and find out just who it was on the intercom.

As always the gryphon kept his guard up as he walked down the hall, following the stripe that would lead him to his destination. He still didn't trust this place.

There was something up here. Sketch knew it. Looking over the data logs, he saw repeated mention of "containment"...and something that appeared to have all instances of itself erased from the system. Whatever "it" was, it had been kept a secret. He hit the power button on the monitor before trotting around the desk and looking down the hallway, where Kes and Dream were already half-way down.

"Alright, let's go. Pendant, coming or not?" he inquired, glancing behind him at the unicorn mare.

Kestrel walked down the hallway, talons clicking against the cool concrete floor. The red line that pointed towards admin rounded a corner, where the corridor widened. On the left hand side was an alcove that lead to a set of stairs leading up, and just past that down the corridor, a single door. On the right hand side were two more closed doors, and another single door lay at the corridor’s end. All the doors were shut and seemed to be made from cheap timber. The door at the end of the corridor had a plaque, which read ‘Cafeteria’.
