Rules:
This is a game involving two (possibly three) forces coming head to head- Mafia vs. Citizens. The goal is for the one faction to exterminate the other opposing teams and claim the community as their own… Due to feed back I have decided to add in clues to the game play-however they will be as difficult as possible to interpret. Clues are given
The game will take place in rounds, with each round taking place over the course of a normal day. The rounds will be as follows: Whack round, investigation round and finally lynch. During the whack round Mafia collaborate behind the scenes and decide which of their neighbors they wish to send to the great Stable in the sky. Psycho would also decide whom they wish to kill (This is also when the cult would utilize their power permitting that we have enough players).
Next is investigation which is when the designated sheriff chooses a pony and has their role revealed to the world. The sheriff would write and submit their findings to the forum.
And last is lynch round. All of you will be added to the Mafia game skype room. This is where all general conversation takes place-AND is where you can influence fellow players to vote your way- or notice suspiciously inactive players…
Votes both lynch, investigation and whack must be p.m.ed to your mafia don by 7p.m. Pacific standard time. I will try to then post up a story by 10 o’clock after calculating player interactions. Remember that this is not the time that you must vote, you may send in your vote far before this cut off period, just not after.
Once the game begins, you all shall receive randomly generated roles through a lottery, and then given a second skype account for the applicable players. A story intro will be posted for you all to read…and then the game resumes with the first whack round! One rule is that I would emphasize is that any conversations regarding this game to stick in the Skype room, and not to happen on the FoE site. Feel free to P.M. one another. I encourage you all to be as tricky and sly as possible, but let’s have fun with this- no taunting each other children!
Roles:
This is a complete list of the roles…Not every single role will be utilized in this game-and I will not reveal what exists on the board unless they are killed, or your sheriff informs you all.
Sheriff- You are the upholder of Justice in the corral, and the only kill-resistant towns player. You can be targeted by other player effects(except power-negating players since the sheriff is part of an actual round), however your highly trained senses will notice more specific clues from those who target you. You have the power to investigate a player for the investigation round and have their role revealed to you. During kill nights, pick a faction, and receive one clue regarding that side.
“Mind if I see what’s in the bag? No?! Please, pretty please!?”
Investigator: You have the impeccable skill to notice the small details. This worked wonders for your career, not so much for your romantic/social life. Choose a faction and receive a clue about their role. “My mind rebels at stagnation. Give me problems, give me work!”
Detective: Your favorite past time is following a path of hoof prints with a magnifying glass. Despite your less than adequate resume this talent helped secure you a position in law enforcement…A temporary one…The Detective has the power to trail a character and find out whom they visit each night.
“Look at the hoof prints. Slavers travel single file to hide their numbers, these ones are side by side…”
Free-Neighsons(town)- A secretive society composed of morally good individuals. Free Neighsons have the power to know other Free-Neighsons and receive their own private skype room for conversing.
“What’s the secret hoof bump? …Ehh, that’ll work…”
Jailer: Jail (Town) Can jail one pony each night if no pony is lynched. Has the choice to execute that character at end of night. The kill of the jailer cannot be resisted by any ability. When the jailer imprisons a character the jailer can privately chat with whomever they incarcerate. Whomever is jailed can not use their power, and the individual whom is in prison can not be targeted by another character. No pony knows who is jailed.
“I think I really DID get the wrong pony…If only there was an undo button for exections...”
Bus driver: (town) The bus driver is the lovable chofeur of the town. They have the ability to switch the position of two characters each round. When the characters are switched, they essentially exchange places for whatever targeted effects were aimed for them.
“HEY PASSENGERS! Shut up, talking is not permitted in this vehicle! If I’m going to hate being here, you have to hate being here too…”
Doctor Whooves(town)- With nothing more but a song in your heart, elbow grease, and your humble extended knowledge of the practice of modern medicine…You provide treatment to any pony who needs it. Some call you a saint, others call you a miracle worker, I’ll just call you if I find a funny spot on my coat…You pick one character to give a house call to for a checkup each round.. If the mafia or psycho happens to visit them first, you arrive in time to stabilize their mortal wounds.
“I’d love to help you out, but I’m squeamish…”
Spy: (town)Can see a few messages of what mafia says at night.
Lookout: (town) pick a player, sees who targeted them.
Vigilante/Mare Do Well(town)- Clearly laws and the trained ponies meant to uphold said laws aren’t enough to keep this town safe. So like any rational pony, you feel the need to get out there and take matters into your own hooves. Don’t worry citizens…this player has your back… Has the power to kill a player each round, but will lay down the cape from the guilt of slaying the innocent.
”You laugh at me; I’ll wrath at you…
Escort-(town) Has the power to keep a player of their choice busy for a round. If said escort chooses younger player-they must foal sit for a round. If older character is chosen they are distracted by other means for a round. Choose a player to cancel their vote.
Mayor- (town)Is anonymous for entire game. Once the mayor reveals their identity their vote for a lynch counts for four.
“Power is dangerous unless you have humility…”
Bodyguard: Body guard can choose one target to protect. If that target is targeted for a kill, both bodyguard and murderer dies. This power goes beyond any kill-resist power.
"The package is safe..." *opens box of cookies*
Veteran: Takes up arms once per night, whoever visits them dies. The veteran over rides any kill resists that players have during the whack round. Anypony targeting the veteran with their ability or trying to kill the veteran will die instantly. Special effects are considered before whack attempts.
Arsenist: (neutral) Each turn an arsonist may choose one of the following: (night) pour gas on somepony(person knows gas is on them), light a match (kills those doused in gas), do nothing they rid themselves of gasoline.
“FIRE FIRE! YEAH-BURN!”
Witch doctor- (neutral)With the aid of magic, you have the power to choose any player, and redirect their power towards a player of your choice.
“With the help of my special brew, I shall take control of you”
Jester: (neutral) Their objective is to be lynched. If they are lynched, one of the people who voted guilty will die. (writes note about their innocence and a guilty voter dies. Over comes invincibilities)
Executioner: (neutral) Objective: have their target is lynched. If target dies before they’re lynched, executioner turns into jester. Target is random.
Amnesiac: no power. Their ability is to choose a character who dies and assume their role. Victory condition: live until the end of the game unless they become jester or executioner.
“I have short-term memory loss, it runs in the family! At least I think it does…Hmm…where are they…”
Cultist: (neutral) every two turns, cult members can vote to indoctrinate a player into their cult. Cannot indoctrinate neighson or mafia. If they target mason or mafia, the identity of the cultist is revealed to the targeted player.
“Hey buddy, interested in paying me to teach you how to worship a fake pony?”
Mafioso-
Don- The ruthless leader of the mafia. Has the final word on who sleeps with the fishes…Also can only by killed with a lynch vote. Only character that can over ride the kill resist is the veteran.
“I never lie to any pony, because I don’t fear anypony…The only time you lie, is when you are afraid.”
Framer- Has the power to choose one Mafioso and one citizen before an investigation round. If the Sheriff picks the designated Mafioso or citizen, their roles will be switched for the investigation.
“If you think your boss is stupid, remember. You wouldn’t have a job if they were any smarter…”
Sweepy Clean: Pick a mob member before an investigation round. If sheriff picks same player, your amazing cleaning skills can wipe away the evidence and make them look clean. (three times per game, this is done by telling the sheriff for the investigation round that the mob member is a random citizen role)
“You will put the garbage in the cans and make certain that the cans are covered. We got to keep our own backyard clean.”
Weasel- Trails a player up to three times per game. Finds out who they visited the last round. “There are three sides to every story. Yours, mine and the truth.”
Muscle- You use your charismatic personality to intimidate a character and make them hide in terror. Your death threats, and your methods of following through with them make you an invaluable addition to the Don's team. Pick a character and negate their power during the whack round.
“You talkin' to me?! Are you, talkin' to me!?"
Consigliore: Choose a character, will receive a clue about the nature of this individual’s profession. If Don dies, the consigliere becomes the don.
Evil Neutral:
Psycho- You seek to see that justice is fulfilled upon the world. No pony else can quite see your reasoning, they obviously are on the same side as the stallions in the black suits! Has the power to kill one player per round, can only be killed with lynch vote.(Serial Killer is basically a second Psycho, but isn't kill immune) Both psycho and serial killer can be killed by the veteran.
