==Personality==
Shutter, despite a year of living in the wastes, is one of the ponies who tries his hardest to maintain a somewhat positive outlook on things, despite the death and destruction all around. He heavilly misses his life in the stable though, especially his work, and has a tendency to try and hang onto anything that he sees as a reminder, or as a way to return some normalcy to his life.
His bullied background, but positive career back in the stable has also given him a strange outlook on others, mentally classifying them as being 'good' or 'bad' with no real middle ground in-between. His classifications tend to stick hard in his mind, and once he's made up his mind on somepony, it can be almost impossible to change it.
==History==
Shutter was born in the confines of Stable 113. Even since he was born, Shutter was strangly small and weak for an Earth Pony, which made him a prime target for the bullies that seem to spawn in every setting.
Growing up with taunts and pranks from the larger kids eventually taught Shutter a few lessons, namely how to move around the stable without the other children seeing him, and how to talk his way out of getting his head dunked in the restroom toilets long enough for a lucky distraction to come by, or for him to sneak off and hide.
Around his eleventh birthday, Shutter's father, a good Stallion, if a bit 'unobservant', began to worry at how anti-social Shutter was, always avoiding several of the other children in the Stable for some reason. Calling in a favour from one of the Stable Technicians, Shutter's father was able to get ahold of a pre-war camera, and was able to get it working good as new, in hopes that a social activity like photography might get him some friends.
Needless to say, this didn't really work as planned in the friend department, but Shutter took to the camera amazingly quick, practically falling in love with the device, and earning his cutie mark as he began using it to take pictures of the events around the stable, his special talent for photography becoming clear.
For the years leading up to the events before the downfall of Stable 113, Shutter's skills were used to increase morale in the stable, Shutter being given the job of publishing a sort of 'Stable Newsletter', that was recieved over the dweller's Pip-bucks. While it wasn't exactly a pinnacle of journalism, the newsletter's writing being filtered to be nothing but overwhelmingly positive about life in the stable, at least the pictures were always skillfully taken, and detailed some of the best moments of each day.
When the paranoia and fighting started in the stable, Shutter was one of the first to try and flee the second the doors were opened, using his old hiding spots to get through the stable unseen. However, he was forced to abandon his prized camera due to the rush to escape as the stable grew more and more dangerous.
While there wasn't much use for a journalist or a photographer in the settlement of Stableton, Shutter was able to use his skill at hiding, and his keen eye from his years as a photographer to make a living as a scout for scavenger parties, able to stay out of sight, and alert them to potential trouble up ahead.
