Harmony Lane [Finished]

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

There was a sound that keep repeating it self it seamed to be originating from somewhere far away, Kira tried to turn were she was to find were the sound came from but she could not feel her body.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

It kept repeating again and again. She felt being holding by something warm and soft but also sharp, this was wrong she had to get out of here. She was just so tired and her entire body hurt yet she felt rested and comfortable at the same time.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

This was not right she could just feel it but yet it was so familiar that she could not care. The sound started stared to more and more become clearer, calling her to wake up to get to work. No she did not have any work, she had not had work in a long time.

*BEEP BEEP BE...*

Kira woke up in her apartment and pressed down the button on the alarm clock with her talon, the sun was shining in from behind the curtain it looked like it was a nice day out. She did lazily got of the bed and headed to get a shower. Still amazed that she had gotten such a nice apartment for such a cheap prize range which left her with plenty of bits for her to just have fun with.

After the shower did she started preparing her breakfast she was really happy she had gotten her hand on some meat even among these ponies, she had noting against them it was just that she did not really favour all that pony food but yeah some of it was actually quite good.

This was really going to be a good day first day down at the local repair shop, yeah she only started as a trainee but that just mean she could only go up in life. If this job had not come up she would probably had though about enlisting but with the news about how close they are to winning the war she would probably would not do it even without this job. Locking her apartment door, marked 406, behind her she stated to make her way to work.

It was a new day and a new life on Harmony Lane.

Cross blinked, he had to get up, another day to fight another daily war. He jumbled out of his blankets trying to get up...but he realized it was his day off, still, the zebras were only as effective as incompetent as he chose to be, besides he loved his job.

Cross got up and made himself breakfast, the clock ticked 11, he'd been up too late trying to chart out Zebra attacks.

The clock ticked 12, Cross put his uniform on, the Ministry of Morale badge glistening in the mirror to remind him why it was important.

The clock ticked 1, Cross didn't have the authority to operate yet, he'd just go on a patrol or er- maybe just a walk, no telling where zebra sympathizers were prowling but at least the Ministry of Morale's presence could remind everypony that Equestria came first.

The clock ticked 1:05, The door slammed,

It was a beautiful sunny day in Harmony Lane

Now, there are pros and cons to being a doctor under the ministry of peace. The pros are the awesome pay, due to the amount of money the ministry was appropriated, and, in Harmony Lane, hardly anypony got sick. The ministry itself and it's polls had proven that it was one of the least dangerous or sick places in Equestria.

The cons, however, were that there was nothing to do all day. He got up, went to the clinic, cared for one or two ponies that have a cough or a burned hoof from missing while cooking, and went home.

The other con was the hours. Tech awoke to the familiar country music playing on his alarm, the clock reading 6:00. He yawned, stretched, freshened up, and headed out the door of his apartment. He stepped outside and took a deep breath, savoring the smell of the fresh city air. The clinic he worked at and ran was only a few blocks away, so he walked to work, whistling an upbeat tune as he made his way to the office. He arrived at the small doctor's office a few minutes later and slid the key in to open the door. He situated himself behind the desk, pulled out an engineering magazine from behind the desk, and waited for the day to end, just as he had for Celestia knows how long.

Just your average day in Harmony Lane.

The sound of a heavy electric guitar riff caused caused a large lump of blankets and pillows to move slightly, a grey light could be seen and if listening closely you could have heard a voice mumble: five more minutes.

Five minutes later the music went turned on again and the tired looking resident of apartement 409 emerged from his cacoon of warm, fluffy blankets

Leaving the music running, Scrap took a quick shower, dried himself off then headed into his kitchen poured himself a bowl Cheerilee'os.

Munching on his cereal whike he sat on his couch, Scrap steeled himself for another day of work. It wasn't that Scrap didn't like his job-he loved it actually-it was just that the head researcher of his team at Robronco was a complete idiot.

Sighing, Scrap levitated his bowl to the sink, grabbed his security badge and headed out to face the new day.

It was just another sunny day on Harmony Lane.

The soft light from the window, poked through the blinds. All seeming to be stir the pony who slept, Who began to get annoyed by the light. She finally opened them to adjust to changing setting, the room was just bright enough to make out her room, but still dark enough so it wont annoy her. This was room 401, other wise known as Sky's room

A quick shower took what little drowsiness Sky had left, Feeling better at the day ahead. She ate some butter toast, for the for she was late as it is. She got dressed in her cloud factory uniform, She prepared for the long day ahead.

This is just another day in harmony lane.

Sunlight beamed down through the window and into the face of a sleeping pony, denying her the option of further sleep. The two forces clashed in a brief struggle before Bakewell finally accepted defeat at the hands of the warm rays and grudgingly got up and sourly stomped into the shower. Bakewell loathed mornings. She particularly hated being torn from the view of her dreams. She always had the best and most understanding friends in her dreams. Sometimes they even flew off and fought supervillains together, that was always fun.

Bakewell hastily completed her shower before heading to the kitchen area and began the hopeless quest for food. Eventually the mare eventually gave up and ate a flower sandwich; not exactly morning food, but whatever. She didn’t even let herself finish chewing before quickly charging out of her apartment, prepared to head into another busy and ever-sunny day. Today was sure to be busy; some ministry or other had placed an absolutely insane order. It would be tough filling the thing, but probably fun, as well.

In the end, it was probably going to be yet another bright sunny day in Harmony Lane.

The alarm to wake up the occupant of room 308 was silenced just after the first beep.

Kestrel couldn't really say he enjoyed his leave as much as other soldiers did. The big gryphon had grown rather accustomed to the constant drills and examinations that had been going on lately. The buck of the rifle, the protest of over-worked muscle.

It was familiar, welcomed. This...peace? It was total bullshit.

He knew why he had been sent on leave, and he had agreed to take up residence in one of the nearby apartment complexes for a while. Every day he had drilled himself to the limits and beyond. Taking every possible chance to improve himself that came along. And now? Now he was stuck with a bunch of civies for who knows how long.

Still, he could at least get a bit of PT in this morning before breakfast. A run, maybe some flying. Nothing major, just a basic warm up.

Of course, Kestrel's idea of 'warm-up' was what most would think was a full workout. That's what being in First Recon did to an individual though.

Deciding that he did not need a uniform Kes walked out his front door and shut it behind him, dog tags soundlessly resting on his chest, and locking the door just to be safe. He had been lucky enough to get a decent apartment up on the third floor, away from most of the other occupants. He somehow doubted the peace would last.

Welcome to Harmony Lane.

"Well good evening citizen" Cross gave a warm smile to the passerby, "Great day to be an Equestrian isn't it?" Cross fidgeted with his earpiece, there was more and more incoming reports for him, but less and less of them had the merit for him to check out, it was exhausting but vigilant work, he always stayed on his hooves, there was no telling where those dirty zebras and sympathizers might be!

Cross just nodded, "Been getting alot of reports of zebra activity around the city, but for some reason it always seems quiet here in Harmony Lane, strange, something about this place just breeds patriots"

Amity was already well awake by the time the residents of Harmony Lane began to stir in their beds. He had been up and about delivering the paper to the people and ponies of the area well before most were awake. Taking a deep breath of the fresh air, Amity trotted at an easy pace as he grabbed the bundles of newspaper with his mouth and flung them in front of the many doorsteps on his paper route.

Maybe after this run he would try flying again, even if he knew he couldn't sustain it for more than a second or two. Amity just sighed as he continued his happy little route. The sun was still rising over the horizon and the day had just begun.

Just another day on Harmony Lane.

"Good evening officer, And Why yes, it is good to be Equestrian." Sky gave the officer a soft smile. "Really?" Sky gave a confused look. "I never really noticed, never even knew Zebra activity was even in the city." Sky Said to the officer. "Well, i guess if you find any, they will be arrested and sent to prsion." Sky let the smile turn to a grin.

It was a bright and sunny day on Harmony Lane. The ponies were out and about on their normal routines. The air was cool and the wind blew gently through the tree leaves that lined the road giving the place a very calming charm to it. Many of the ponies were enjoying the day and had smiles plastered across their faces.

Athanix could see this all from his little window in the attic of his friends home.

He slowly stepped down from the worn old books he used to reach his perch and and trotted over to a couch that Amity had set up for him. He looked over at the desk next to the couch spotting the same old candle flickering and illuminating the dark attic.

Next to the candle was a small potato that he had glue two googly eyes too. He took the spud and held it in a tight embrace taking care not to squish his only companion when Amity was away.

He then lay on the couch and turned to face the back and sobed as he thought about his life up until now.

Just another day on Harmony Lane...

By now Kes had made his way downstairs and was moving towards a nearby street. His eyes immediately focused on the forms of two of the locals. One a horn-head, the other a pegasus. They were small, looked sort of weak.

"How do they do it?" Kes murmured withing the depths of his mind.

He looked around, seeking an alternative path for his run. He did not find one. It would seem he was going to have to walk past these two; easy enough.

Pushing forward at a brisk pace the solider began to make his way towards them.

"Here goes nothing."

Scrap headed out of the apartment building and down on to the street, walking at a brisk pace. He had been late to work once and didn't hear the end of it for weeks. It wasn't an experience Scrap had any desire to repeat.

So when he saw the Ministry of Morale officer talking to a blue pegasus in the middle of the path he took to work, he got a little worried. Not because he had done anything wrong, but instead because the MoM were a paranoid bunch, accusing everypony and their grandparents of being Zebra symphasizers.

He hoped that the officer wouldn't stop him just because that would probably make him late for work, which in turn would probably cause his bosses to accuse him of being a zebra symphasizer by slowing down work.

All of the sudden Cross's head jerked to the side as his earpiece actually managed to toss him some real data, "....yeah....ahuh....really?.....alright"

Cross turned and trotted past Sky

"Hey!! PaperPony!! Come here a minute, I need to talk to you!!! I got a few questions."

Violet Star hummed happily as she skipped through Harmony Lane, not a care in the world. A bright grin was on her face as he silver eyes looked around. Off in the distance, she spotted her favorite Ministry of Morale officer, Cross! In a flash the filly was standing in front of the agent, face beaming.

“Ooooh! Cross! Hi! How are you? Are you having fun? I’m having fun! I bet you’re having fun!” she turned to Sky, grin widening. “Oooooh! Who’s this? Is this a friend? A zebra sympathiser? A jaywalker? The chosen one? Oooh! Are you going to interrogate her? Can I watch? I love watching you interrogate! Especially that one time where you...”

And another day dawns in Harmony Lane.

Shutter looked at the pony in his bathroom mirror, as he tried to force himself to regain a bit of focus by splashing some water on his face from his sink...
...He couldn't remember exactly what last night had entailed, but it had given him a hell of a headache which he had been dealing with ever since he woke up...he had a feeling he may have stayed up far, far too late working on this project, but his lack of sleep was making it hard to remember anything at all right now.

With a sigh, Shutter decided to forget about it for now (not much of a challenge), as he stepped out of the bathroom, and walked over to his closet, yanking the doors open to get dressed...A blue shirt, a brown coat, his saddlebags and his reporter hat. Once he was dressed, he pulled out the metallic box hidden in the bottom of the closet, and, after entering in the combination to the lock, withdrew the most important part of his attire...

Donning his Coltac ED9000 Camera around his neck, Shutter slowly shoved open the door to his temporary apartment and carefully locked it behind him, before heading down the stairs. Harmony Lane was one of the few places left that was nothing less then pure patrotism and safe family life, and the brass wanted a story on it, an article to inspire Equestrians all over into working harder for their homeland. This was proving harder then ever since Shutter had gotten writer's block about halfway through, and his deadline was starting to come up. He needed inspiration...

Hopefully, in such a perfect place as this, inspiration wouldn't be that hard to come by...

When the MoM officer first started yelling, Scrap's heart froze for a second-but only for as second-before realizing that the officer wasn't yelling at him, but instead at some newspaper pony.

Internally letting out a sigh of relief, Scrap hurried past the officer.

Barring any unfortunate occurrence, Scrap was gonna make it to work on time-maybe even a little early.

Starry awoke to the very loud sound of "March of the Parasprites" being played from her alarm. She smashed the off button with her hoof, managing to silence it yet again. Jumping out of bed, she caught the time.

"Oh no! I'm gonna be late!" She exclaimed, as she rushed to fit on her lab coat, boots and glasses. She had remembered quite vividly her father telling her not to lose this job, 'this job is the first rung of the ladder of science!' he'd told her, and Starry wasn't going to to ruin her dreams by being late for work eighteen times this month! She was going to beat her poor attendance record from last month, no matter what it took!

Starry burst out of the door to her apartment, room 408. No time for a shower, she could use the school gym's showers again during recess. Starry rushed down the stairs, and broke out into a gallop when she reached the base floor of the apartment complex. She did happen to spot some ponies gathered around a Ministry of Morale officer, and one of them happened to be Violet, who she recognized from one of her classes.

"Violet! Shouldn't you be at school already? You're gonna be late! You've gotta be more responsible, you know!" Starry told her. Starry was smiling, so it was a possibility that she realized the hypocrisy of what she was saying.

Just your typical day on Harmony Lane.

" Oh Snap Violet thats right...you have school, but don't worry! they asked me to come in and speak to your class today" Cross smiled at the filly and then looked at the Paperpony,

"You, come with me, you're not getting off that easily...." And again Cross looked at Violet.

"Alrighty Violet, don't you think its time we went in so we can learn? Theres so much fun stuff to learn about working for the Ministry of Morale, its going to be Awesome!! maybe not Ministry of Awesome "Awesome", but you know....maybe just a teeny bit as awesome, how does that sound?"

Violet craned her head around to see Starry, her characteristic grin still on her face. “Oh, don’t worry Ms. Starry! I won’t be late!” It’s not like she ever was, she always had a habit of getting to school on time, usually by airduct. The faculty have long since ceased trying to keep her out of the school’s ventilation system, it never works.

She turned back to Cross, her wide grin even wider at the news of him coming to the school. “OOOOH YES! THIS’LL BE AWESOME! YAY!” she squeed, hopping up and down. “Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Are you going to show that one teleporting trick? I love the noise that spell makes!”

The blue pegasus just sighed as he nodded on the MoM Agent who had stopped him on his route. The unicorn had actually stopped him on the last house on his route. So with one quick motion, Amity pulled the last bundle of newspaper and threw it at the doorstep of the home. He buckled down his bags again and made sure they were nice and tight.

The wind blew some of his long uncut mane in front of his eyes so Amity blew that away with his mouth without breaking his composure. He had been meaning to get that cut, but he had some other things to worry about... Not to mention that a paperpony didn't exactly pay top bit. But he needed the extra money when he wasn't on his mailpony duties and this was one of the only jobs where he really didn't have to talk to anypony. After gathering his wandering thoughts , Amity then turned to the agent and stared blankly at him. Not out of disrespect, albeit this gesture was more or less that, but he stared blankly because he was bored and seeked for something less mundane to do.

Success. None of the others seemed to have noticed his presence as he slid on by the grouping of people. Sure was a strange spread out here, MoM agent, a filly who was late for class, and a few others apparently on their way to work.

Lucky civies, Kes would have loved to be back at work right now.

His morning PT would have to do for now though, and with the whole 'get around the group' out of the way the gryphon could begin.

He started with push ups, then some other simple stretches to get his body limbered up and ready for the slight exertion ahead. Rolling his front shoulders to work them out just one final time, the gryphon took off.

His pace was brisk, yet not a full on run just yet. Folks back in Recon called it the Mile-eating Dogtrot, and for good reason. At this pace Kes could cover mile after mile on just his feet alone and not feel anything but a slight burn in his muscles when the day was through.

He had decided 2 miles would be enough ground to cover this morning, and should all go well it would only take him about about 25 minutes do get that done.

Sky just looked at violet, before she could answer her questions. She had already gone to the officer, or agent of M.o.M. She asked him about stuff and Sky didn't really care she needed to get to work, So She slipped away without them noticing. Sky unfurled her wings and took to the air, heading towards the cloud factory.

Violet heard the sound of wings and looked to see the pegasus, Sky, flying away. Well, they couldn’t have that, could they? So, grin still on her face, Violet grabbed Sky by the tail with her magic and dragged the pegasus back down to earth.

“Uh-uh! Mr. Cross wanted to talk you! You can’t just fly away like that silly pegasus!” she nodded her head as she planted the pegasus next to Cross. “He doesn’t like it when ponies just go away like that!”

Sky felt her tail being pulled, and down to the ground she was back to. Sky just glared at the unicorn, who had pulled her back. She stared at violet, a gaze of hate. "Your enjoying this aren't you," Sky got up and dusted herself off. "and i need to get to work, or i will be late."
