    ==Personality==
    Happy Trails, or Trails for short, can be best described by two words: Rugged Individualism. Though growing up in a traveling caravan taught him the value of strength in numbers, he prefers to play the role of the solitary wanderer. He is however not antisocial, simply detached. He finds the politics of the Oasis's, as he calls the towns of the wasteland, petty and foalish and tries to avoid them where possible. While often jovial and sharp tongued when around pleasant company, he comes of as silent and abrasive to most due to his preference not to concern himself with others.

    He feels tense and deeply ill at ease when in the cities that dot the landscape, not liking the enormous size of the buildings that surround him while in them. It could be said he has a touch of claustrophobia, which he doesn't care to test by ever setting foot in a stable. When forced to enter an Oasis or City he lets his shrewd intelligence and charisma take the lead, but always keeps his gun cocked and ready in case his luck strikes again. He has few convictions, only if you can't protect your own you don't deserve it, slavery is disgusting, and killing foals makes you something less than a pony. Anything is acceptable to him in the pursuit of survival, so long as it doesn't cross the line into slaving or wholsale slaughter. Overall Trails is a good natured pony who just wants to live his life as he sees fit in the wide open wasteland.

    ==History==
    Happy Trails was born into a small family of traders just outside of the ruins of Manehattan. He spent his entire childhood traveling from Oasis to Oasis trading salvage for supplies and caps. The one skill which was drilled into his head from a young age was survival and he took to it like a radigator to a barrel of sludge. Other than that he picked up tricks of the trade wherever he could: negotiating hard to get more caps, shooting straight to get more food, and spotting good salvage from bad. He got his cutie mark after being separated from the caravan by a raider ambush for three days. His family eventually found him napping in a barn several miles from the place of the Ambush.

    When his parents and sister decided the roads were growing wearisome and settled in Arbu, Trails took on their brahmen and started out on his own. Happy Trails caravans is making it's first run delivering radigator from Arbu to friendship city. While new to the business and this is his first time traveling completely alone he isn't really concerned. While some would call it arrogance he calls it the confidence born from a life in the wasteland.

    --History Revealed Via Dialogue--

    Trails' parents were couriers in New Pegasus who got into trouble and fled to Manehattan. The ponies in Trails' family pick their name when they've reached maturity ie: got their mark. Trails father would often drill him in fighting, maintaining a premise of personal toughness. Trails' mother was an adept "fire side chemist", brewing chems herself to meet any need that arose. Trails father was named Red and was the only parent who actually worked as a courier, his mother "Joules" was a chemist Red met during his travels. His uncle H' {Short for Happy Trails} was a mercenary and saved Trails at the cost of his life. Trails avenged his uncle after getting his cutie mark and later went to Stalliongrad, still consumed by the rage he felt after his uncle's death.

    "He [H] was a pegasus, but got in a fight with a Hellhound. He killed the monster, but lost his wings for it, one cleaved straight off by their claws, the other had to be amputated. After that he was supposed to retire but had a thirst for action. So a courier, who I'm guessing was your dad, hired him on as a guard on his route to Bitter Springs. Never saw H again."

    "His mom had started the chem business the Khans thrived on, his dad had discreetly delivered ingredients to her and over the years they'd kindled something more. After a while, Trails entered the picture, and everything took on a new light. The drug queen was now a mother, and she needed to keep her baby safe. That meant leaving the warzone before it became one, so she went to a retired Desert Pegasi for help and protection, and they left the Mohoofe behind, forever."

    Reaction modifier (RM) is a derived stat, much like health or DT, that determines how well NPCs are likely to react to your character on initial impression. Your base RM is equal to your Charisma.
    When a player interacts with an NPC for the first time, the Game Warden can make a reaction roll to determine how favourably the NPC reacts to them. This reaction roll is d10 + RM (similar to the roll for initiative). Creatures with animalistic or robotic intelligence (or no intelligence) aren’t generally subject to reaction rolls.
    Some things, like the character’s reputation or the NPC’s prejudices or mood, might grant reaction bonuses or impose reaction penalties. For instance:


    • A respected hero might gain a +2 reaction bonus (or perhaps higher for particularly notable deeds), while a character known for being a nuisance might take a -1 reaction penalty.

    • A cheerful NPC might grant a +1 reaction bonus to anyone interacting with them, while a particularly racist pony might impose a -4 reaction penalty on all zebras.

    • A raider out for blood might impose as much as a -15 reaction penalty, making attempts at diplomacy from all but the luckiest and most charismatic ponies doomed to failure.


    NPC Reactions

    0 or less Hateful The NPC outright loathes you. It might be from fear, disgust or indiscriminate bloodlust, but whatever the reason, they refuse to interact with you in a reasonable or civil fashion. Depending on the circumstances, they might just outright attack you.
    1 – 4 Unfriendly The NPC really dislikes you and is likely to be generally uncooperative. They might be rude or terse, or they might just try to avoid you entirely. They almost certainly won’t trust you.
    5 – 8 Sullen The NPC dislikes you. They’re less inclined to trust you and might be somewhat impatient or petty with you.
    9 – 12 Indifferent Neutral reaction.
    13 – 16 Cordial The NPC reacts well to you, perhaps out of fondness, honest respect or simple geniality. They’re a little more likely to trust you and may favour dealing with you over others.
    17 – 20 Friendly The NPC is very friendly towards you. They’re quite likely to trust you, perhaps taking some things you say at face value and are more likely to go out of their way to help you.
    21 – 24 Respectful The NPC treats you with a great deal of respect. They are very likely to trust you implicitly and may be eager to please you or earn your favour.
    25 or more
    Reverent The NPC throws themselves at your feet, so to speak, like you’re their personal hero or something.
