Dead Rising [Closed]

Mix draws his pistol and runs towards Amnesia "Oh my goddess are you okay!?" He looks over to Aura who had just announced there were ferals. He inspects the body of the crazy pony and says "These arent ferals, their faces arent decayed as much and their stomachs arent thin as a bone. No, these things are something else..." Mix pulls back the hammer on his pistol as he hears the shuffle in the distance. "It might be crazy, but I think the dead has risen..."

Amnesia brushed off some first on her shoulder and smirked at Mix. "Har har, very funny..." Her ears perked up again, the sound getting louder.

"But seriously, what is that...? I'll check it out." With that she flew up about 50 feet and scanned the area, looking for the source of the sound.

Amnesia flew up and saw a sight that would make anypony's jaw drop. An army of limping, swaying, groaning zombies were coming straight for them, apparently attracted by the gunshots. There are far too many to fight, in these conditions at least. The group was hilariously outnumbered, the horde was closing in, fast, and they looked hungry.

Things were about to get interesting.

Zyrene nodded when Amnesia thanked her and Xero. Zyrene watched with interest as the others reacted and gave their opinions on what they had just seen. She just let out a huff and walked over to the dead pony as Amnesia took flight. There were sounds of shuffling coming from somewhere, but Zyrene was confident Amnesia would be able to see what that was about.

She started poking at the dead pony when she reached it, wondering to herself what could possess a pony to try and eat another.

Amnesia screamed out to the others as loud as she could as she came down and started to run away. "AH SHIT! RUUUUN!!! RUUUUN!!!"

One would probably be confused seeing her do that, who could blame them? But it was probably wise if they listened to her.

It only took one word for Amnesia to convey the idea to the rest of the team.
"ZOMBIES!!!"

Zyrene jumped in surprise as Amnesia shouted for them to run. She turned tail and ran after Amnesia as she started running very fast somewhere, screaming about zombies. Zyrene had doubts that there were zombies, but anything that freaked out a pony that much was definitely not something that she wanted to be near.

Keeping pace with Amnesia would be difficult for Zyrene; she could already feel herself tire from trying to keep up with the panicking pegasus. She hoped they could find protection soon from whatever was chasing them, lest she fall away from the group...

Xero gulped as the "things-that-have-gone-wrong-today" counter ticked to three. Hell, he was on a roll!

Despite having no desire whatsoever to travel in a group, legions of undead had a way of making it the only feasible option.

For a moment, Xero considered simply shooting himself now or taking his chances with the zombies; but quickly found himself matching pace with the group and taking potshots at the monstrous hoard.

Aura heard Amnesia start yelling zombies and heard the sound of tons of ponies coming towards them and started running whit the group. She saw the tiny zebra and saw her start to fall behind. Aura had two little fillies at home and thought of her as one since she was so small. So the mother instinct kicked o]in and Aura grabbed Zy and set her on her back with the words "Hold on tightly." She then used her long legs to keep up easy with the others.

Mix watches as amnesia flees and looks towards the massive army of zombies. "Oh shit!!!" Mix then turned around and tried to keep up with the group, only looking back to see how far away the walkers were. "I dont mean to be a dick, but I told you so! But seriously we need to find a place to take shelter!"

Mix looks around frantically for a safe place to bunker down, he sees several small building and a few crumbled buildings but none big enough to take shelter in. Mix then yells out toward Amnesia "See any large buildings we could hide in?!"

Zyrene hed been running along with the group as fast as her legs could carry her when she felt herself suddenly lifted and put onto Aura's back.

"Hold on tightly."

She didn't need to be told twice (since she had felt herself tiring out) and held onto Aura as tight as she could. As she held on, she peeked over her own shoulder to see if she could catch a glimpse of what was chasing them.

Fortunately, as Mix had hoped, a large building could be seen not to far away, the fog having concealed it before. It was a 3 storey, boarded up, most likely abandoned motel. Shutters on the windows were half torn off and the windows were smashed in. A billboard on the outside had letters written vertically saying, 'S_NSHINE MO_EL', a smiling sun with a badly worn and faded rainbow arching over it. The corroded letters 'U' and 'T' lay on the ground underneath. How ironic. Wooden planks blocked out the doors and windows, but it was nothing a little elbow grease, or maybe even a good buck couldn't solve...

It was that building, or it was death.

Amnesia pointed to the 'Sunshine Motel' and called out to the others. "There! There! We can hold out in there!" She bolted forward, flying ahead of the group so she could start working on tearing the planks off the door. She gave it a buck, two, three. The wood splintered and cracked, but she wasn't going to make it in time herself, not alone.

"MIX! Get up here and help me, the rest of you, come over here and cover us!"

Out of ammunition? Xero hadn't expected to burn through all of his bullets that quickly!

Ammo might be a commodity in the wasteland; but it was in no way a scarcity. Xero needs a short term solution, however, as opposed to taking the time to scavenge for the holy mana.

"Look out!" He calls racing to catch up with Amnesia [AGL 7] and throwing his shoulder against the wooden planks [STR 6]. Covering would be a bit of a challenge without bullets- and he wasn't ready to count himself useless just yet!

Mix laughs in relief "Oh thank celestia!" Mix sees Amnesia fly farther ahead and picked up the pace trying to keep up with her. He reaches amnesia, frantically trying to rip the planks off the door. he looks back at the horde of walkers coming up behind them and pushes Amn to the side. "Stand back Ammie, us earth ponies have a hell of a kick!" Mix forces all of his strength into busting open the door with one swift buck to the door.

Amnesia gave Mix a few nods of approval. "Alright, alright tough guy, not bad."
She yelled back out for Aura, Xero and Zyrene, motioning for everyone to get inside.
"C'mon guys! Inside! Quick!" Crouching down by the door, she took off several shots with her repeater, covering the others so they could make it in. They were getting closer.... "Go! Go, go go!!!"

Aura was panting and covered in sweat as she ran inside the door and turned to yell back at the crazy pegasus "Get your flanks in here." She would normally add a sexy to that but in this time of danger there was no need for mindless flirting. She kept Zy on her back and got ready to shut the door when everypony was inside and yelled at Xero "Get something to block this door."

Block the door, right.

Uh-oh, here comes the self doubt.

You couldn't get that door open, could you? No, you were too busy leaving Aura and that Zebra Filly for dead out there with those things! No ammo? That's what your knife's for, idiot! Maybe it's for the best- your shots attracted them! Don't you feel stupid??

Hello, self doubt.

Xero tried to ignore the hateful voices, leaning a shredded couch vertically to replace the pulverized door [STR 6]. Mix wasn't kidding in the slightest.

"Does anyone have some spare rounds?"

Zyrene sat up on Aura's back after they had made it through the door. She wanted to help barricade the way in, but unless she suddenly managed to grow several sizes in an instant, she'd be very useless. Instead, she pulled out her pistol once again and kept it trained on the way in, looking out for whatever it was that they had run from.

Hearing Xero's question for more rounds made Zyrene think back to the small supply she had for herself. She hoped she wouldn't need to use all of it.

Amnesia managed to pick off a few of them, not really that it made any difference. Her efforts barely dented the overwhelming force of undead. The group had made it in not a second late. As soon as the door was closed and the couch was in place, violent banging could be heard outside. After a few minutes of the pounding on the door, it stopped as suddenly as it started. Maybe they gave up... maybe they were up to something....

The inside of the building was quite spacious, it probably looked pretty clean 200 years ago. Now was a different story. A circular desk sat in the middle of the room, at one time, it was probably occupied by a happy receptionist. What was once a fairly elegant double staircase was now collapsed on the left side, the other badly sagging from water damage. Up the stairs, one large door lead to the right, and down under the staircase, a heavy metal door with a circular window was on the left side, blocked by various debris. Foul, obscene and just downright dirty language was painted across the yellowed, faded drywall. Mold and mildew grew on the walls, parts of the ceiling were falling onto the floor, exposing the inside to the out, and the horrible stench of death came from a door in the corner of the room. It was a grim sight, a trail of blood leading down from the stairs and into the door. The trail was old though, nothing but a dark stain among the various other bloody hoofmarks spread across the floor.

Zyrene looked around the room, wrinkling her nose at the horrid smell of death in the building. The trail of blood might have been discouraging had it been newer. Still, the place seemed like it would make a decent place to lay low for the time being.

Zyrene hopped off Aura's back and began poking around the room they were currently in, seeing if there were any supplies that could be salvaged. Weapons, ammo, medical supplies, whatever. The things that had chased them were persistent and Zyrene didn't want to be unprepared for when they struck next...

Aura closed her eyes when the smell reached her nose. She sighed reopening her eyes and looking around. She was reminded of some of the old slave quarters of Loosa that she would watch during her shift at night. The memories made her shiver, and a longing for that warm home in Stableton with a wonderful zebra mare. A tear came to her eye remembering that moment in her life. She looked over at Zyrene and felt a longing to protect her so she could one day grow up to become a wonderful mare later in life. She closed her eyes again trying to push the memories and thoughts to the back of her mind for a later time to think. When she succeed she stood there for several seconds focusing on a light spell.

Amnesia looked around, and waved a hoof in front of her muzzle. "Whew, crap, that smells bad." She made her way up the stairs and immediately went for the large door. Her repeater drawn, just in case.

Locked. Of course. "Hey anypony a good lockpick? I suck at it, and we need this door open."

Mix gaged a little and tapped Amn s shoulder. "Hey I think I could get that open" Mix pulls out a screwdriver and a bobby pin. He looked at amnesia through tired eyes "it might take a while I'm disoriented and a sorta inexperienced lock pick. " he puts the bobby pin in and used the screw driver to try and open the lock.

That was fine, Xero had based his entire life philosophy thus far on self reliance, after all.

It would consume some precious time; but Xero was certain he could find some ammunition. Now where to start?

He quickly decided to slip away from the group to check the large door on the right upstairs. Hunkering down, Xero peers through the keyhole...

Xero didn't really see much other than some dust floating around, although the room on the other side was quite spacious. Mix managed to open the door rather quickly via lockpicking. The door opened on creaky hinges to reveal a square room, a large portion of the floor caved down to the lower floor, which came up as a dead end, although a large chest laid down there, probably worth looking into. Across the room to the left, another door, this one boarded up with various bloodstains on it, made another spot to explore. Dragging, uneven footsteps along with groggy moans could be heard on the floor above the three, sounding like there were many of them up there.

Zyrene found a .357 revolver with two rounds in the cylinder, along with a small ammo box for it holding 48 rounds behind the receptionist desk. It was in fairly good condition, looking recently used, as rust had only just started to form around the barrel. She was lucky, along with the pistol, she found a medical kit, which held a weak belong potion, a roll of bandages, and a half empty glass of disinfectant.
