Your character’s personality:

Heartbeat has a heart of gold. He's always willing to lend a hoof to those in need, delivering food and water and providing medical care whenever he can. Although he prefers a nonviolent approach, he doesnt hesitate to drop some ordinance on raiders and monsters... When he has ordinance to drop. He prefers talking over shooting, and patching up ponies over burying the dead.
That said, the horrors of the waste have taken their tole on the medical pegasus. Nightmares of the exodus from Stable 113 still haunt him; now they include visions of the ponies he has failed to save since that time. He experimented with Dash for a time, but now finds his solace in alcohol and cigarettes; ideally he has a pack and a bottle on him at all times. For medicinal uses, of course... Every few days he burns away whatever caps he happens to have to get himself drunk off his flank.

==History==

Heartbeat was born and raised in Stable 113. Tragically, his mother died in childbirth. His father, a stable maintenance technician, said he was her last heartbeat. Aside from the obvious lack of a mother, his life was much like the lives of other children his age; playing, exploring and trying to find his place in the world. From a young age he had a fascination with two entirely incompatible subjects; medicine, and explosives. He proved fairly adept at both, in addition to his gifted tongue. It was when he was bandaging the wound a diamond dog friend of his had gotten while carving a small statuette out of a fallen apple tree branch that he got his cuteymark and found himself apprenticed to the physician.
The fatal incident hit him especially hard. To see his mentor, a fellow healer, descend into insanity tore at his heart. During the madness that ensued in the following months, many of his friends were killed, and his father, burnt out of his mind on a cocktail of tranquilizers and Dash, hung himself.
When Stableton was founded his first thought was to set up a clinic.But he gradually learned that staying around people he had known all his life was simply too powerful a reminder of the Stable 113 Exodus. Only alcohol could take the edge off his suffering and force the memories to the back of his mind. But a drunk doctor is a dngerous doctor. So, after grooming a suitable replacement to run the clinic in his absense, he took up a wandering lifestyle, flying from town to town, administering medical treatments where he could, drinking himself to a stupor when he could afford it and trying to find some way to make sense of a world that went insane long ago.
