The Battle of Stableton

Cross stared down the street, this was a huge shield, one of the strongest he's ever manage to summon together.

' Yea....you keep thinking that you piece of shit....these ponies will be there to kick your ass soon enough...'

Cross felt the tangs of small arms fire ping his shield, but he dug in his hooves, and cringed his muzzle, he had to buy time so he could find out what the Surgeon's been hiding all this time, his precious 'grand plan' on what to do with the remnants of Stableton.

Cross hoped that the slavers were gone, but the Surgeon was gone, nopony would be keeping track of him now, he was under no false impression that Heartcrusher squad was ever loyal to him

"Guys you have to listen to me!!!, the Surgeon General is plan- GAHH!!!!" Cross's shoulder got ripped through, he dropped the shield and fell over, he opened his eyes and through the blur he saw Happy Trails, the bastard he tried to leave out of this, struggle to sit up with a pistol, smoke dripping out of it, and a huge wide-eyed grin of satisfaction stretching across his face.

'that was one lunafuckinghelluvashot....' Cross rolled behind cover, he'd have enough time to stabilize himself before they reached the Surgeon.

The Surgeon General.

Cross couldn't blame Trails, but he could certainly get ready to shred the king of the dregs into one fuckin bloody hell of a mess.....

*FLASH*

Shutter let out a yelp as he felt a shot of pain in his shoulder, thinking he had been shot...However, on inspection, he found he had been lucky once again, and the bullet had only grazed him.

"Ugh...after all this, I'm surprised this is the worst condition I've been in since this attack started..."
He muttered, as he tried to ignore the minor injury, giving a nod to Lucky, and running back towards the wall to call Techno over to their wounded.

"Doc! We need your help over here! Trails and Lucky are injured, real bad!"

Techno got up from patching Starry's many bullet holes just to hear that Lucky and Trails were in need of help. He dashed over to where Lucky lay on the ground, bullet wounds apparent in his legs and shoulders. "Wow, good job, Lucky. Managed to cripple both fronts in one go." he said as he pulled out more medical supplies and started patching Lucky up. It was apparent that Tech really needed to start carrying blood with him to give, but that would be rather difficult. Anyways, he tossed a healing potion in Lucky's mouth and started working on the many bullet wounds in his shoulder and legs. Another thought hit him as he was focused on Lucky. "Hey, Shutter," he started, still working on Lucky, "You said Trails was down, too, so where is he?"

Shutter was surprised to hear Techno ask him where Trails was, glancing over at the Stallion in confusion.

"Trails? He's right over th-"

Shutter swallowed his words, as he saw that Trails was no longer where he had been a short time ago. However, his very keen eyesight could see him near the bunker, and his condition did not look like it was getting any better...

"Damn it! He's run off over there! You'll have to fix Lucky up quick Doc, Trails was in VERY bad condition from what I saw!"

He called over to Techno, as he ran over towards Trails, intent on making sure he didn't kill himself by moving around with those bullet wounds.

Trails panted slowly, his adrenaline slowly leaving him. He had never felt such a white hot and righteous rage in his life, but even it was quickly being replaced by an overwhelming numbness. Shadows started to creep into his vision as he coughed up more blood. He dropped his pistol and struggled to walk to the doorway. He couldn't feel his legs, or anything else for that matter. The world went black and he felt himself falling forward. Goodnight everypony.

Lightning pulled out of his dive and managed to pull off another evasive maneuver in order to dodge the incoming bullets. Just like before, a few bullets managed to hit him but do nothing more than give him a little bruise. He circled the bunker as he watched the rest of the team quickly take out the remaining slaver.

The blue pegasus saw a quick flash as he saw three more ponies appear. "How many do we have to take down?" he yelled to nopony in particular. As they began to bolt up the cliff covered by a shield spell, Lightning decided that it was best not to go after them without the others helping. He quickly started coming down for a landing when he saw Trails beginning to tip over. "Oh no..."

Once Lightning landed, he would holster his weapon and run over to Trails. "Doc! We need you over here!"

While Techno was busy healing Lucky, Ashen went around the battlefield and collected the ammo and anything else of worth from the dead slavers, along with the assault rifles from the ones he didn't disarm. Soon there was a collection of rifles and bullets floating to his side as he approached one of the wounded slavers. Without saying a word, he telekinetically grabbed the slaver's neck and twisted it around, breaking it with a snap. He followed this up with the other two living slavers, methodically snapping their necks to ensure they didn't get back up.

With the last one dead, he saw Lightning fly back down to Trails after the latter fell over, yelling for Techno. He walked over, quickly looking over Trails as they waited for the medic. Ashen wasn't a doctor, but he was smart enough to know that what he was looking at wasn't good.

"He's going to need medical attention immediately, he could loose the leg to infection otherwise, or simply bleed to death." he reported, voice maintaining its usual calm flatness despite the grim nature of the news.

Kira stood over the remain of the buck she had ripped open with her talons and beak, there was still a raspy gurgling sound the came from his throat as he tired to draw breath but instead slowly suffocated in his own blood. Speaking of blood, as she looked down on her talons they were completely soaked in the slow coagulating blood of at least three different ponies. But it was really more that just her talons that as covered in blood, her face, feather and most of the front body had been stained crimson red.

Her brain seem to have stopped as she looked around her at the dead ponies and then at the what even in her blurred state of mind recognized as Stableton ponies, none of which she really knew.

Kira looked up at the cliff just in time to see the earth pony collapse from his own wounds, even if her mind was all fogged up she could not let another one die. She quickly looked around her and picked up a repeater along with some ammo for it from one of the slaver bodies as well some what she guessed was some kind of drug, she simply did what to risk using her last dynamite unless she really needed too.

"Is there anyway I could help?" She asked as she came up to were the other ponies had gathered around the wounded earth pony, in truth she would have looked quite intimidating with all hardening blood covering her.

Lucky was only halfway through the process of being doctored when he decided to interrupt.

"Techno, just give me a shot of med-x and go help Trails. He was in worse shape than me, and I've got a better chance of living for a while longer."

The wounds in his shoulders were closing up, the bullets having been removed before the he drank the potion. The pain was receding, and Lucky was starting to be able to move again.

"Hurry! There's no telling how badly he's hurt, and we sure as hell don't need him dead!"

Techno nodded to Lucky as he drew out another shot of meds and administered it to Lucky. He made for where Lightning was calling for him, and when he got there, he saw Trails lying there in a small pool of blood. He ran over and began to check the damage. he found several in his shoulders and legs, but there were a few directly in his chest, which troubled him the most. Bullets in the lungs were not fun to deal with. He pulled out another healing potion from his seemingly endless supply (which was running low, now down to four), and gave it to Trails as he began to work on the chest shots first. "Sweet Celestia, Trails, you got yourself shot up good, now didn't you." he said to himself as he administered Med-X and got down to it.

Trails felt an unbelievable agony rip through his entire body. It was like he had been struck by lightning only he was fairly certain that'd be a more pleasant experience. Have a good story at the very least. For a split second the world was clearer than it had ever been before, like somepony had taken the blinders off.

He looked up as Techno continued to work feverishly on his wounds. He looked to see everypony, and a gryphon, gatherered around him. You'd think I was dying or someth- oh yeah. he rested his head back and looked back at the sky. It was getting dark but the fires kept it as bright as day. He patted his vest down and pulled a cigarette out, lighting it on a nearby ember.

"Don't say a fucking word about lung cancer." He said, short of breath.

Starry had gotten up to her hooves, after removing the last bit of her metal armor. She had lost a lot of blood, and didn't feel strong enough to drag it around. She kept the helmet, though, that thing had saved her life.

She didn't catch much of the battle, but what she did see was Shutter being grazed in the shoulder, and letting out a yelp. Starry's face had been pale, but she looked horrified when Shutter got shot. She darted out toward him, stumbling a lot along the way, and didn't have the strength to stop herself before crashing into him.

"Shutter! Are you alright? Luna damn it! You're hurt! Lie down, I'll fix you up, I've been watching Techno operate, I know how to fix you! You're going to be alright!" Starry told him frantically. She had apparently not spotted Trails or Lucky.

"Ughhh...." Cross struggled to wrap his wound, but still he needed just a few moment's respite. He had managed to sneak himself unto the 2nd floor of a house that had yet been set on fire. He limped over next to a window facing the band of ponies preparing themselves and helping their wounded.

"Aarrghhh" Cross let out a small groan as he telekinetically pulled the bullet out of shoulder. He tried his best to wrap it, but continued to watch the ponies below, as soon as they began to move, he'd teleport himself the rest of the way. He was concerned that they could've seen him, but the house was too dark, and they were too busy yelling for a medic who could only handle one at a time.

Cross knew he helped more ponies by breaking the Surgeon's plans, but was he still responsible for all the pain these ponies suffered? Should he be feeling bad?

Shutter would have stopped his gallop when he saw that Techno was on the job of fixing Trails, and began to turn around to make sure Lucky was okay. This plan was quickly foiled however, when he felt Starry, still wearing her helmet, crash into him, practically knocking the Earth Pony to the ground.

"Awk! Wait...Starry?! Don't worry about me, it was just a graze, I'll heal on it's own..."

Shutter said, glancing at his light injury, before looking up at Starry and gasping at how pale she looked.

"...Oh Celestia, Starry, you're pale as a ghost! You've got to rest for a bit!"

Techno chuckled. "Trust me, lung cancer is the least of your worries at the moment." he said, carefully pulling the bullet out of the lung by way of the small hole in his chest. "I would suggest you stop breathing, but that would defeat the point..." he said as he withdrew the bullet and went about bandaging it and stuffing another healing potion in his mouth, bringing his total down to three. He then got to work on all the other various holes on his shoulders and legs.

Cross looked out the window, Shutter and Starry were injured and Trails was dying. It...wasn't really his fault right? he did everything that was suppose to happen! Why the hell did they have to go and get themselves injured.

Cross sighed deeply, and drew out the medpack he was suppose to be saving for the Surgeon General....He'd be taking a risk exposing himself now. But he had no choice. This wasn't anything he could risk burdening on himself, nor on others.....


*FLASH* Cross stood over Te3chno the doctor, Cross used his telekinetic grip to shove the Med kit into Techno's chest, hoping he could use it to help the others, and tried to get it over with, so nopony had a chance to aim at him

Cross just glared at him angrily

"Not....a.....word.....Doc..."

*FLASH*

Cross now left to go rejoin the Surgeon

Techno jumped up in surprise as Cross teleported in front of him and shoved a medkit at him. "Hey, you were the one who-" he stopped as Cross took his leave. "Got... Starry." he finished, an angry look on his face. He looked down at the medkit that had dropped to the ground. He opened it up to find two healing potions and a roll of magical bandages. Unsurprisingly, it had been stripped of chems by it's previous owners.

He went back to work on Trails, who was still in pretty bad shape. The chest wound was starting to heal thanks to the potions, and the bleeding from the other bullet wounds had almost stopped. He was finished extracting the bullets and was now just patching him up to help with the leftover wounds.

"Thanks Tech." Trails groaned, getting up unsteadily on his legs. "Remind me to buy you a beer sometime, and I'll send the next mare your way. Hell make it two of each." Trails gave the medical unicorn a smile and walked over to grab his blood stained repeater.

He looked over at Cross' shield and glared at it. "Go ahead and keep piling it on." He sighed. "Oi, Starry sit your ass back down. You were nearly dead not ten minutes ago and you think you're good to go? You insane?" Trails grinned at his own double standard, coughing a little as his newly healed lung got used to breathing again. "Lucky, are you good?"

Kira looked as Trails got to his hooves she was about to get over to help him get strait but stopped as it did seem like he would not needed it, at least not yet. It was as she stood there among a these ponies who all had fought slavers together when her mind finally catch up with her.

She simply collapse on the ground her entire body feeling exhausted, she just laid there looking down on her claws. It was only to this day she had never killed anypony in other then self defence, but now she had actually ripped apart several ponies with her own claws and why because they had burned her house down noting ells.

By now Lucky had gotten to his feet and was sitting in the same spot he'd been laying, draining the last of the whiskey from his beaten flask. He finished off his drink, belched, and replaced the container, and then looked at Trails.

"I've got me some new scars, and there might still be a bullet somewhere in me, but I'll live."

He looked at the gryphon laying on the ground. "What about her? She looks like she's been through hell and back."

Trails looked down sympathetically at the shellshocked gryphon. She was clearly gone, struggling with the same thing every soldier did: the first kill. Trails was far from a religous pony but all the same he struggled with the morality of his actions. Some chose to shutdown, he knew far too many who had, others went crazy. He did his best to avoid it but in the end he justified it all with the same creed he lived by: the strong reach the top on a ladder made of the bones of the weak.

"I'm sorry kid..." he began, but he stopped himself no time to comfort the shellshocked. "Psych ward is closed for now."

He cocked his repeater and started off for the barrier. "If you're not dying let's go."

Starry had taken a few moments to breathe, and to calm down. Shutter was going to be fine, she was just overreacting. She also spotted Trails and Lucky, who were far worse off, as they were talking about the griffon. They looked stable enough. Not that she wasn't concerned, but she'd leave the worrying to the professional. Namely, Techno.

Still, Starry didn't feel it was right to just let Kira go through the pain she was in without at least comforting her. So, Starry trotted up to Kira slowly, and put a hoof on her shoulder. "Now there, it's okay," she spoke softly, "Some ponies just deserve to die."

The street beyond the alley had naught one single thing that Kes had been looking for. Not one to be eaisly discouraged the gryphon continued to search, street after street until, finally, he and his dragon companion had made their way into the town square. There Kes could make out the form of a few familiar ponies. Trails, Starry, Ashen, hell even Kira was there.

And a motherfucking medic as well.

The gryphn and never been one for talking so he jjust began to approach, broken wings still bound to his back by a sheet, and a few cuts here and there. If it was not obvious what he wanted the group before him was blind.

The overgrown lizard behind him, that was beat to the Void and back, should also have aided in figuring that kes was here for some medical support.

Lightning waited around as Techno was patching up some of the other ponies. He checked his ammo and gave a slight sigh, "I better conserve ammo soon..." He looked around as Starry finally ran over and it looked as that other pony was finally getting back up and ready for battle also.

Sighing, Lightning looked at the barricade with a frown before turning to look at a slightly distraught looking griffon. He would walk over and said, "Hey. I know this is hard. It's not easy, I know. But we still have a job to do. We have to stay strong and see this through to the end." The pegasus knew that his small speech wasn't very good but it was the best he could offer.

He then turned to see Trails beginning to move up to the barrier. Lightning would turn back real fast and say, "Listen, griffon, if you ever need a friend, just come find me when this is all over. We can talk more then." Extending his wings, he took off into the air, hovering over the group and noticing a griffon and a dragon walking into the square. They looked pretty beat up and they didn't look like slavers. Plus, Lightning could swear that was the griffon that gave him a pistol before this entire battle started. Yelling down at Techno, he said, "Hey! I think we got a couple more that need patching up!"

"Mr. K! And Sparky!" Starry exclaimed as she spotted Kes and Sparkfire approaching. She had spotted Kes's wing, and decided to take the initiative. "Don't worry Techno, I'll handle this one!"

Starry levitated a roll of gauze out of Techno's saddlebag, she hoped he wouldn't mind. Starry had seen Techno operate enough times, and she had read enough guides to know how to patch up a broken wing.

"Okay, Mr. K, I need you to lie down on your back so I can fix that wing of yours, and don't you worry, I know what I should be doing!"
